William Julius Wilson is an American sociologist. He is a professor at Harvard University and author of works on urban sociology,race and class issues. Laureate of the National Medal of Science,he served as the 80th President of the American Sociological Association,was a member of numerous national boards and commissions. He identified the importance of neighborhood effects and demonstrated how limited employment opportunities and weakened institutional resources exacerbated poverty within American inner-city neighborhoods.
The University of Chicago Harris School of Public Policy is the public policy school of the University of Chicago in Chicago,Illinois,United States. Susan Herbst is an American political scientist and academic administrator who served as the 15th president of the University of Connecticut. She was named president on December 20,2010,and took office on June 1,2011. She succeeded Michael J. Hogan and was the first woman to be selected as the University of Connecticut's president since the school's founding in 1881. In August of 2019,Herbst was succeeded by Thomas C. Katsouleas.
