T. J. Tampa Jr. (born March 13, 2002) is an American football cornerback for the Baltimore Ravens of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Iowa State.
Marques Tampa Jr. was born in Norristown, Pennsylvania and moved to Jonesboro, Georgia at age three. At 15, he moved to St. Petersburg, Florida and attended Lakewood High School. In his high school career he played on both offense and defense. On offense he caught 67 passes for 1,323 yards and 15 touchdowns. On defense he tallied 33 tackles with nine being for a loss, four sacks, two pass deflections, an interception, a fumble recovery, and two forced fumbles. [1] Tampa would decide to commit to play college football at Iowa State over schools such as Georgia, Maryland, Rutgers, Toledo, UCF, and South Florida. [2] [3]
In Tampa's first season in 2020 he recorded five tackles with one being for a loss. [4] In Tampa's second year he would take a step up racking up 18 tackles with 0.5 going for a loss, and three pass deflections. [5] In week nine of the 2022 season, Tampa had a career day, tallying seven tackles with one going for a loss, and four pass deflections, but the Cyclones would fall to Oklahoma. [6] In week eleven, Tampa would record his first career interception, picking off a pass by Gunnar Gundy, but Iowa State would lose to Oklahoma State. [7] [8] Tampa would finish his breakout 2022 season with 40 tackles including five going for a loss, nine pass defelections, an interception, and a forced fumble. [9] For his performance on the season, Tampa would be named second team all Big-12. [10] [11] Tampa was named preseason first team all Big-12, for the upcoming 2023 season. [12] [13] Tampa was also named to the Jim Thorpe Award watch list, which is awarded to the best defensive back in the country, and to the Bronko Nagurski Trophy watch list, which is given to nation's best defensive player. He played college football for the University of Oklahoma, and was recognized as a unanimous All-American. The New York Jets chose him in the third round of the 2004 NFL Draft, and he also played professionally for the Chicago Bears and Carolina Panthers of the NFL.
Gerald Keith McCoy Jr. is an American former professional football player who was a defensive tackle in the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the Oklahoma Sooners, earning consensus All-American honors. He was selected by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with the third overall pick of the 2010 NFL draft. McCoy has been selected to the Pro Bowl six times, and was selected to one First-team All-Pro.
Eric Steven Weddle is an American former football safety who played in the National Football League (NFL) for 14 seasons. He played college football for the Utah Utes, where he earned consensus All-American honors in 2006, and was selected by the San Diego Chargers in the second round of the 2007 NFL draft. During his nine seasons with the Chargers, Weddle received three Pro Bowl and two first-team All-Pro selections. Weddle spent his next three seasons as a member of the Baltimore Ravens, earning Pro Bowl honors in each and extending his total selections to six. He retired after playing for the Los Angeles Rams in 2019, but returned two years later to join the Rams on their playoff run, which culminated with a victory in Super Bowl LVI. Following the championship, he retired a second time.
Darian Stewart is an American former professional football player who was a strong safety in the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the South Carolina Gamecocks. He was signed by the St. Louis Rams as an undrafted free agent after the 2010 NFL draft and also played for the Baltimore Ravens, Denver Broncos and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. As a member of the Broncos, he won a Super Bowl ring in Super Bowl 50 over the Carolina Panthers. He was named to his first Pro Bowl in 2017.
