TNGHT is a musical duo consisting of Scottish producer Hudson Mohawke and Canadian producer Lunice, formed in 2011. The duo released their self-titled debut EP to positive reviews in 2012. They announced an indefinite hiatus in late 2013, until their return in September 2019.

Biography

Hudson Mohawke (Ross Birchard) and Lunice (Lunice Fermin Pierre II) originally met in 2008, during the first LuckyMe Records tour of North America, when Mohawke performed at the Pop Montreal festival and Lunice played support. [1]

Following a successful performance headlining Warp Records' 2012 SXSW showcase, TNGHT officially debuted with the TNGHT EP, released via Warp X LuckyMe on July 23, 2012. [2] [3] [4]

TNGHT has since performed at multiple venues internationally, including The Opera House, [5] the Coachella music festival [6] and Brooklyn's Music Hall of Williamsburg, which featured an appearance by rapper/producer Kanye West during a remix of West's "Cold". [7]

In 2012, TNGHT produced "Shake Weight" from Duality by Captain Murphy (rap project of Flying Lotus).

In 2013, TNGHT co-produced Kanye West's song "Blood on the Leaves" from his critically acclaimed album Yeezus . The song samples TNGHT's track "R U Ready."

The duo announced their hiatus on December 27, 2013. [8]

On March 8, 2016, Hudson Mohawke tweeted a photo stating: Sneak peek of the @tnght studio sessions. [9]

On June 20, 2017, during an interview with Red Bull Music Academy Lunice announced the band was working on new music. [10]

On September 22, 2019, the duo released "Serpent", their first song in over six years. [11] On October 23, 2019, the duo announced their next EP, "II", along with the release of the song "Dollaz". [12]

On November 4, 2021, the duo released "Tums" as a celebratory song to mark the approaching end of the quarantine caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. [13]

A founding member of the UK label collective LuckyMe, his fractured, colorful take on hip-hop made him a leading figure in the late-2000s wonky scene. He released his debut album Butter in 2009 on Warp Records. He has followed with the solo albums Lantern (2015) and Cry Sugar (2022), both on Warp.

"Blood on the Leaves" is a song by American hip hop recording artist Kanye West from his sixth studio album Yeezus (2013). In the song, West presents his thoughts on how fame can cause the destruction of relationships, while making comparisons of contemporary times to the lynching of African Americans in the United States during the pre-civil rights era. West delivers his vocals through an Auto-Tune processor, like on his 2008 album 808s & Heartbreak. It contains samples of both singer Nina Simone's 1965 rendition of Billie Holiday's song "Strange Fruit", and "R U Ready" by the duo TNGHT, who co-produced the track.

"I Am a God" is a song by American rapper Kanye West from his sixth studio album Yeezus (2013). The song credits God as a featured performer. It was produced by West, Hudson Mohawke, Daft Punk. and Mike Dean, and includes vocals from Justin Vernon of Bon Iver. The song contains samples of "Forward Inna Dem Clothes", written by Capleton and H. Hart, and performed by the latter, and "Are Zindagi Hai Khel" by Manna Dey, R. D. Burman and Asha Bhosle.

<i>That We Can Play</i> 2010 EP by Games

That We Can Play is the debut EP of the American electronic-music project Games, consisting of producers Daniel Lopatin and Joel Ford. Lopatin and Ford produced That We Can Play in an apartment studio, using vintage synthesizers and sequencers to recapture the sound and style of 1980s power pop.

Joshua Leary, better known by the stage name Evian Christ, is an English electronic music producer, DJ, songwriter and performance artist from Ellesmere Port, UK. He is signed to Tri Angle Records, Warp and Kanye West’s publishing house Donda and record label Very Good Beats. He released his debut mixtape Kings and Them in 2012 and gained prominence as a collaborator on West's 2013 album Yeezus. He released a further EP on Tri Angle, Waterfall, in 2014, and announced his debut album on Warp Records, Revanchist, in 2023.

TNGHT is the self-titled debut extended play of the duo TNGHT, the collaboration of producers Hudson Mohawke and Lunice. Recorded in a London studio in a couple of nights, it was released on the labels Warp and LuckyMe on July 23, 2012.
