Portugal: Grand Cross of the Order of Merit (24 July 2020)
Tarja Laitiainen is a Finnish diplomat. She started working for the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in 1980. [1] Laitianien was appointed as the Finnish Ambassador to Portugal in Lisbon on October 1, 2016.
Laitiainen worked in Portugal at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as Head of National Security Authority (NSA). She has worked at the Finnish Embassies in Lima and Tokyo and in the Finnish UN and UNESCO delegations. She was a national expert at the EU Commission in 1996-1998. In the Foreign Ministry, she has worked in various positions at the Political and Development Policy Department and as Head of Asia and Oceania. Laitiainen has served as a rotating ambassador to Afghanistan and Pakistan from 2002 to 2005 and as ambassador to Finland in Luxembourg since 2005 and thereafter in Bulgaria as of 13 March 2009 and at the same time in Kosovo. Matti Kalervo Anttonen is a Finnish diplomat and the present Secretary of State for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Finland since 1 March 2018.
Marja-Liisa Kiljunen is a Finnish diplomat. She has been Finnish Ambassador to Lithuania and Belarus from 2008 to 2012.
Päivi Luostarinen is a Finnish diplomat. She has been employed by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs since 1981 and served as Finnish Ambassador at the Finnish Embassy in London from September 2015 until June 2019.
Arja Makkonen is a Finnish diplomat. She is an ambassador from the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in the Southern Caucasus region of Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia. She has previously served as Ambassador to Ukraine in Kyiv since 2011 and has worked since 2015, including in the Moscow and Warsaw Delegations. Prior to that, she has served as Adviser to the Minister of European Affairs and Foreign Trade. Makkonen joined the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in 1989.
Ann-Marie Nyroos is a Finnish diplomat.
Katja Pehrman is a Finnish diplomat. She has been the Finnish OSCE Ambassador since 1 September 2013 and chaired by the Human Dimension Committee in 2016. She started working for the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in 2002.
Terhi Katriina Hakala is a Finnish diplomat who has been serving as European Union Special Representative for Central Asia since 2021.
Maija Lähteenmäki is a Finnish diplomat. She has been Finland's ambassador to Australia in Canberra in 2010-2013 and retired there. She started working with the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in 1974.
Riitta Hannele Resch is a Finnish diplomat. She is a leading expert at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Humanitarian Aid and Policy Unit. Resch worked as an ambassador in Manila from 2004 to 2008. She started working at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in 1982.
Anu-Maija Saarela is a Finnish lawyer and diplomat. She has been Ambassador of Finland to Tel Aviv since 2016.
Maria Serenius is a Finnish diplomat. She was the Finnish Ambassador to Riga, from September 1, 2008, and retired in autumn 2012. She started at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in 1975.
Kirsti Eskelinen-Liukkonen was an Ambassador of Finland to Ankara from 2008 to 2012. She was the Finnish Ambassador to Latvia in Riga from 2000 to 2004 and after that she was head of the Eastern Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs until 2008. She started with the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in 1973.
Elisabeth Tigerstedt-Tähtelä is a Finnish diplomat. She is a Master in lawyer and has been Finnish Ambassador to several countries
Nina Vaskunlahti is a Finnish diplomat. She currently serves as the Under-Secretary of State for external economic relations. She was the Finnish Ambassador to India in New Delhi from 2016 to 2019. Prior to that she was a Finnish Ambassador to Turkey in Ankara between 2012 and 2016. She started working with the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in 1984.
Satu Mattila-Budich is a Finnish diplomat and Foreign Affairs Counselor. She has been Head of the Permanent Representation of Finland to the Council of Europe in Strasbourg, France, from 1 September 2015. She started working with the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in 1983.
Leena-Kaisa Mikkola is a Finnish diplomat. She was Finnish Ambassador to Tel Aviv from 1 September 2011 to 30 August 2016. She joined the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in 1992. Before that, Mikkola worked at the Finnish Red Cross.
Seija Toro is a Finnish diplomat and Counsellor for Foreign Affairs. Toro holds a Master of Arts degree. From September 1, 2016, she has been a Roving Ambassador at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs for Mali, Niger, Ivory Coast and Senegal., as well as the Special Representative on Sahel. Before that she was the Ambassador of Finland to Maputo, Mozambique, from 1 November 2013. She started working with the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in 1989.
Tuula Yrjölä is a Finnish diplomat. She is the Head of the OSCE Office in Tajikistan of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe since 1 October 2016, where she was appointed by the OSCE Presidency in 2016. She was the Ambassador of Finland to Cairo from 2013 to 2016. She started working at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs since 1982.
Greta Hannele Voionmaa was a Finnish diplomat. She was the Ambassador of Finland to Algeria from 2008 to 2011 when the Finnish mission was reinstated to the embassy headed by an ambassador. After returning from Algeria in the autumn of 2015, she started as a Foreign Policy Adviser to the Speaker of Parliament. She died on 1 January 2016
