S. Tarlochan Singh (born 28 July 1933) is an Indian politician. He is a Member of the Parliament of India,representing Haryana. He served as Chairman National Commission for Minorities from 2003 to 2006 (Union Cabinet of India cabinet minister status),was member,National Human Rights Commission of India,Govt. of India,2003 to 2006. He served as Vice Chairman,National Commission for Minorities from 2000 to 2003 (Union Cabinet of India,State Minister Rank).
He has done tremendous work for Sikhs around the world [ citation needed ]. He made huge efforts for the rescue and settlement of sikhs from Afghanistan after the civil war there [ citation needed ]. He published calendars and developed museums on Sikh history [ citation needed ]. He has traveled worldwide to educate people about the teachings and values of Sikhism [ citation needed ]. In 2008 he visited Maine in United States to give lectures on Sikhism to the students of Colby College [ citation needed ].He was awarded India's third highest civilian award the Padma Bhushan in 2021. Tarlochan Singh was born on 28 July 1933,to Shmt. Ram Piari and S. Balwant Singh in Dhudial,Punjab (now in Chakwal District,Pakistan). He is the eldest amongst three siblings. He did his early schooling in Khalsa School at Dhudial and then moved to Patiala at the time of Partition in 1947. The time after Partition was a very difficult time for him and his family. For some time he had to work along with his studies. He went to the Panjab University,Chandigarh to study economics and attained his master's degree in 1955. He is an alumnus of Mohindra College of Patiala.
After completing his master's degree in economics,Singh started his career in civil service as Public Relations Officer in Punjab. He served as Joint Secretary,Development,Punjab Markfed from 1972 till 1977. Markfed is the largest cooperative organization in Asia [ citation needed ]. He then served as Jt. Director,Public Relations Deptt in 1977 and served in this position till 1980. He was Additional Director,Department of Tourism,Culture,Museum and Archaeology,Government of Punjab from 1980 to 1982. He served as Director,Publicity and Public Relations of IXth Asian Games Organising Committee,New Delhi from 1982–1983.
During his stint as managing director of Delhi Tourism,he developed two of Delhi's most popular tourist places:Dilli Haat and Hauz Khaz Tourist Complex,for which he won Pacific Asia Travel Association Gold awards [ citation needed ].
Giani Zail Singh was an Indian politician from Punjab who served as the seventh president of India from 1982 to 1987 and 9th Chief Minister of Punjab. He was the first Sikh to become president.

Tara Singh was a Sikh political and religious figure in India in the first half of the 20th century. He was instrumental in organising the Shiromani Gurdwara Prabhandak Committee and guiding the Sikhs during the partition of Punjab,which he sometimes opposed,however much of his life he advocated simply for a “Azad Punjab”(Free Punjab) before demanding the independent nation of “Sikhistan”prior to partition.

Giani Gurdit Singh was born in Mithewal village in the state of Punjab,India. He was considered one of the greatest contemporary writers in Punjabi,and his book Mera Pind is regarded as a classic. It is now in its 14th edition and has been in print continuously since 1961. He was also a pioneering journalist,the Owner-Editor of Parkash 1947–1978. He was also the editor of Singh Sabha Patrika,a monthly magazine of Sikh history and divinity. Giani Gurdit Singh graduated as "Giani" from Punjab University,Lahore in 1945,and he specialised in literature,divinity,history and folklore. He was a member of the Punjab Legislative Council from 1956 to 1962. He contributed to the debates at that time and in the creation of Punjabi University,Patiala and the recognition of Takht Sri Damdama Sahib,Talwandi Sabo,as the 5th Takht of the Sikhs. He was General Secretary of the Singh Sabha Shatabadi Committee,Amritsar,renamed Kendriya Sri Guru Singh Sabha. As the editor of the magazine Singh Sabha Patrika, he focused on issues of importance to the Sikhs. He also established two Guru Granth Vidya Kendras,one in Chandigarh and another in Mehrauli,Delhi.
Giani Gurmukh Singh Musafir was an Indian politician and Punjabi language writer. He was the 5th Chief Minister of Punjab from 1 November 1966 to 8 March 1967.

Balwant Singh Ramoowalia is an Indian politician from Samajwadi Party. His father Karnail Singh Paras was a well-known Kavishar. Balwant Singh started his political career with student politics as a general secretary of Student Federation of India in 1963. He went on to join All India Sikh Students' Federation and was its president from 1968 to 1972. Later he joined Akali Dal and became Member of Parliament twice from Faridkot and Sangrur. He left Akali Dal to get elected to Rajya Sabha in 1996 and served as the Union Minister for Social Welfare.
