Tathagata Mukherjee (born 15 May 1985) is a Kolkata-based Indian writer, Director and actor. He is best known for his experimentation in Bengali Cinema. [5] and his acting performances as lead in various television shows.

Early life

Tathagata Mukherjee was born on May 15, 1985, in Kolkata, India. During his childhood, he did a three years long yatra with a Bengali drag artist Chapal Bhaduri. He went to high school at the Baranagore Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama High School. Later, he studied drama at Rabindra Bharati University. He has done professional theatre since 2005.

Career

His career as a film actor began when he was cast in the 2007 movie Laal Ronger Duniya .

In 2008, he started his television career as a hero in a daily soap called Sada Patay Kalo Daag. After that, he did many telefilms and soaps. Bou Kotha Kao (2009) which became a turning point in his career. He then played lead characters in Payer Tolar Mati, Harano Sur, Kon Kanoner Phool, Sokhi, Choukath and Care Kori Na. He did cameos in Agnipariksha and Tumi Asbe Bole. [6]

Harano Sur is a 1957 Indian Bengali-language romantic drama film by Ajoy Kar, starring Suchitra Sen and Uttam Kumar, with music by Hemanta Mukherjee, and sung by Geeta Dutt. This is the first film that Uttam had produced along with Ajoy Kar. The film is regarded as one of the finest examples of Bengali cinema of this early period. The film is based on the 1942 American film Random Harvest. The film became the highest grossing Bengali film of 1957.

Uttam Kumar was an Indian actor, director, producer and singer who predominantly worked in Indian Cinema. Through his career he earned commercial as well as critical success, and he remains as an Bengal's cultural icon. For his ability to play roles of various types, Kumar is regarded as one of the greatest and most versatile actors in the history of Indian Cinema and is called as Mahanayak. Kumar was one of the most popular and successful actors in Bengali Cinema history. He debuted as Arun Kumar Chatterjee as a child artist in the 1948 film Drishtidaan directed by Nitin Bose. The film was unsuccessful. Next year he appeared as a leading hero as Uttam Chatterjee in the film Kamona 1949 which was flop again. He changed name again as Arup Kumar. In 1951 film Sahajatri he kept his name permanently as Uttam Kumar. But he gave back to back seven flop films and was stated as flop master general.

Lal Ronger Duniya is a 2008 Bengali drama film directed by Nilanjan Bhattacharya and produced by Kaustuv Roy. The film is based on a novel Lal Ranger Prithibi written by Rupak Saha. The film stars Debashree Roy as the protagonist. The film was a major debacle at box office.

Mishawr Rawhoshyo is a 2013 Indian adventure thriller film directed by Srijit Mukherji, based on the fictional character Kakababu created by Sunil Gangopadhyay. It stars Prosenjit Chatterjee, Indraneil Sengupta, Swastika Mukherjee, Aryann Bhowmik, and many others. The plot revolves around a hieroglyphic trail that leads the protagonist to Egypt and underneath a pyramid. The film became one of the biggest hits of 2013 and gained a strong cult following from the audience and critics. The second film of the Kakababu series, Yeti Obhijaan, released in 2017. The third film, Kakababur Protyaborton, released in 2022.

Sujan Mukherjee is an Indian actor who works in Bengali language films, television and theatre. In 2012 he made his directorial debut with the film Ghete Gho. On 22 February 2016 his directorial debut, in the field of Theatre, Ghashiram Kotwal, which is an adaptation on Marathi play, was premiered. Anirban Bhattacharya is an Indian actor, theatre actor, singer and director. His first successful theatre production was Debi Sarpamasta, written by Manoj Mitra, directed by Debesh Chattopadhyay. His other notable works are Anthony Soudamini, Nagamandala, Jara Agun Lagay, Bisorjan, FM Mahanagar, Karu Basana, Awdyo Shesh Rajani, Athoi etc. In 2017, he got the Mahindra Excellence Theatre Awards (META) as Best Actor in a Leading Role (Male) for Awdyo Shesh Rajani. In 2015, he started his film career with the Zee Bangla telefilm Kader Kuler Bou. He got fame for his character as Bishan Roy from the film Eagoler Chokh. Gogol is a teenage fictional detective character created by Bengali writer Samaresh Basu especially for children. Few Gogol's stories were adapted into films.

<i>Krishnakoli</i> Bengali television soap opera

Krishnakoli is a 2018 Bengali language television Soap opera that premiered on 5 April 2018 and airs on Bengali entertainment channel Zee Bangla. It is produced by Susanta Das of Tent Cinema and stars Tiyasha Lepcha and Neel Bhattacharya in the lead roles. After a journey of 3 and a half years, the show went off-air on 9 November 2022 on a happy note to make way for Pilu.

It marks the come back of Anjana Basu into Bengali television. The show is produced by Boyhood Productions. The show went off air on 23 August 2019 and it got replaced by another show titled Kunjochaya.
