The name "Teerenpeli" means the courtship of the black grouse in Finnish, and the term is also used for flirting between people. [1] The company logo features a male black grouse.
The Teerenpeli beer restaurant was opened in 1994 on Vapaudenkatu street in Lahti. The first small-scale brewery was opened near the restaurant in the following year. The first brewery only had a brewing kettle of 60 litres. In 1997 this was expanded to 250 litres and the brewery started also brewing cider. This brewing equipment is still in use and is used to brew special beers in the Teerenpeli restaurant in Helsinki. In 2002 the brewery moved to the cellar of restaurant Taivaanranta in Lahti. The company also started distilling malt whisky in the same year. In 2009 Teerenpeli built its own brewery building in the Lotila industrial area in Lahti and acquired its own bottling equipment. The former brewery premises were fully taken into use to distil whisky. [2]
Teerenpeli's first beer was Puolukka Lysti, a dark lager flavoured with lingonberries. In its first year, the brewery produced 2000 litres of beer, while nowadays the Teerenpeli brewery produces almost half a million litres of beer and cider per year. The distillery also produces about 100 thousand litres of whisky per year to mature in barrels. [3]
The Teerenpeli beer restaurants are located in Lahti, Helsinki, Tampere, Turku, Lappeenranta, Jyväskylä and Oulu. [3]
The brewery's Laiskajaakko beer was awarded first prize in the Suomen Paras Olut 2011 contest in the series "dark lager up to 4.7%, packaged beers". The brewery also won two second prizes in different series. [4]

Kasauli Brewery and Distillery, at Kasauli in Solan district of Himachal Pradesh state of India, was established in late 1920s during the British Raj by Edward Abraham Dyer. It started producing Asia's first beer brand, the "Lion Beer", and India's first single malt whisky, the ""Solan No. 1". Both of these brands are still in production. After the swap of brewery at Kasauli to Solan distillery and vice versa in 1835, presently Lion beer is produced at Solan and Solan No.1 whisky is produced at the Kasauli distillery using some of the original equipment including the copper pot still. The production of Lion beer was moved 25 km east to Solan Brewery at Solan, due to water scarcity, after civilian Kasauli hill station resort town came up around the brewery. Lion beer was originally an India Pale Ale (IPA), but the beer style was changed to lager in 1960s.

King Brewery's 20 hectolitre brewhouse with a steam-fired kettle was be one of very few authentic Decoction Brew houses in Canada. This popular method of brewing in Germany is rare in Canada as it takes longer and is a more expensive brewing process.

Panimoravintola Koulu is a Finnish brewery restaurant in the city of Turku. Koulu is the largest brewery restaurant in Finland and it is situated in a former Neo-Renaissance style school building from 1889 by architects L. I. Lindqvist and Bruno Granholm. The school to first occupy the building was "Svenska Fruntimmerskolan i Åbo", which was later renamed as the "Svenska flickskolan i Åbo" in 1916, again in 1955 when it became "Åbo svenska flicklyseum", until finally in 1966 the name was changed to "Cygnaeus skola". On 4 February 1940, during the Winter War, the school was hit by a Soviet incendiary bomb, which set fire to the roof and destroyed the assembly hall. One of the high points in the history of Koulu was the visit of Commander-in-Chief, Baron Carl Gustaf Emil Mannerheim on 14 February 1941. The school was shut down in 1970. The restaurant was opened in 1998.

After years of research and trials, the first brand to enter Finnish liquor stores was simply called Alko Whisky. In 1983 Alko introduced Viski 88 that became the best-selling whisky in Finland and remained in production until the year 2000. A 10-year-old whisky was sold from 1991, until the company discontinued all whisky production in 2000.
