The American International School Muscat (TAISM) is an American curriculum international school in Muscat, Oman, serving early childhood through high school. Established in 1998, it is the sole American-only curriculum school in Oman. [1]

Muscat is the capital and most populated city in Oman. It is the seat of the Governorate of Muscat. According to the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI), the total population of Muscat Governorate was 1.72 million as of September 2022. The metropolitan area spans approximately 3,500 km2 (1,400 sq mi) and includes six provinces called wilayats, making it the largest city in the Arabian Peninsula by area. The ABA Oman International School, earlier known as American British Academy is a private, non-profit, co-educational international school in Muscat, Oman established in September 1987. It offers a K-12 English-language curriculum to expatriate students. ABA is an International Baccalaureate World Continuum School, which enrolls 950 students from pre-kindergarten to grade 12 from more than 75 countries. ABA is the first school in the region to offer the IB programme — PYP, MYP and the IB DP.

Shatti Al-Qurum is the most expensive residential locality situated on the coast of Muscat, the capital of the Sultanate of Oman. It is also known as Muscat's Diplomatic District due to many embassies being located there.

Al Ghubra is a suburb of Muscat, the capital city of the Sultanate of Oman. It is a developing town with a number of malls, hospitals, schools, hotels, and many local businesses. There is a sizeable number of expatriates among the locals. The beach is a long expanse of sand dunes. There are many schools here which are owned by different communities. The town is well planned and known for its lake park designed especially with a walk-path and children's playground. Al-Ghubra is Oman's most popular shopping destination, with Muscat Grand Mall Oman Avenue Mall and Panorama Mall being two of the options. Also in this area, a lot of hotels, restaurants, and coffee shops are available. Many cuisines like Indian, Chinese, Italian, Arabic, Continental, & Latin are available here.

Muttrah, administratively a wilayah (province), is located in the Muscat Governorate of Oman. Before the discovery of oil in Oman, Muttrah was the center of commerce in Oman (Muscat). It is still a center of commerce as one of the largest seaports of the region is located there. Other landmarks include Souq Muttrah, a traditional bazaar and Sour Al-Lawatiah, a small community of houses surrounded by an old wall. To the south lies Muscat District.

Education in Oman is provided free of charge up to end of secondary education, though attendance is not mandatory at any level. In 1970 there were only three formal schools with 900 students in the whole state. Oman's national educational program expanded rapidly during the 1970s and the 1980s, with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia sending teachers on its own expense during that time period. In 2006–2007 about 560,000 students attended 1053 public schools. The number of students in private schools is about 65,000. There are also extensive programmes to combat adult illiteracy. Sultan Qaboos University, the only national university near Muscat, was founded in 1986, and in 2006 it had 13,500 students. The Human Development Report found the literacy rate to be 93.0% in adults, up from 54.7% in 1990. For the same period, the youth literacy rate increased from 85.6 to 97.3%. Public expenditure on education was reported to be 4.6% of GDP and 26.1% of total government spending.

The Indian School Al Ghubra (ISG) is an independent, co-educational private day school located in the city of Muscat in the Sultanate of Oman. The school was founded in July 1990 by Indian born Omani businessman P Mohamed Ali, the managing director of Galfar Engineering and Contracting.
