Barbour County is a county in north central West Virginia, United States. At the 2020 census, the population was 15,465. The county seat is Philippi, which was chartered in 1844. Both county and city were named for Philip P. Barbour (1783–1841), a U.S. Congressman from Virginia and Associate Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court. The county was formed in 1843 when the region was still part of the state of Virginia. In 1871, a small part of Barbour County was transferred to Tucker County, West Virginia.
Philippi ('FILL-uh-pea') is a city in and the county seat of Barbour County, West Virginia, United States, along the Tygart Valley River. The population was 2,929 at the 2020 census. In 1861, the city was the site of the Battle of Philippi, known as the "Philippi Races". Although a minor skirmish, this is considered the earliest notable land action of the American Civil War. It is also known as the home of Alderson Broaddus University, a college affiliated with the American Baptist Churches. The city has a weekly newspaper, The Barbour Democrat.

The Tygart Valley River — also known as the Tygart River — is a principal tributary of the Monongahela River, approximately 135 miles (217 km) long, in east-central West Virginia in the United States. The Donegal Democrat is a twice-weekly local newspaper, covering County Donegal, Ireland. The paper was traditionally based in the town of Ballyshannon in the south of the county, but now has offices in Donegal Town and Letterkenny. The Donegal Democrat is the largest paper focused solely on County Donegal, and its current managing editor is Chris Ashmore. The paper was the only one published in south Donegal from the mid-twentieth century on, and so has gained a reputation of being the local paper of record for that part of the county.
The Collegiate Times is an independent, student-run newspaper serving Virginia Tech since 1903. The Educational Media Company at Virginia Tech (EMCVT), a non-profit student media consortium, owns the publication. Based in Blacksburg, Virginia, the Collegiate Times publishes local news, sports, features and opinions for 5,000 print readers every Tuesday of the academic year and prints weekly summer editions. The Cooper Review is an American weekly newspaper published in Cooper, Texas. It was founded around 1880 by the Hornebeck family as The Cooper Banner; however, through mergers, its history dates to 1873, when The Delta Courier was established. As one of the original businesses in its county that still operates, the paper currently serves the city of Cooper, as well as most of Delta County, and the surrounding areas. The newspaper is owned and published by the Butler family of Cooper, and edited by Janis Thomas. Since 2011, it has been a member of the Texas Press Association.
The Calhoun Chronicle and The Grantsville News is a weekly newspaper serving the Grantsville, West Virginia community. The older of its predecessors, the Calhoun Chronicle, was founded in 1883. It merged with the Grantsville News in 1984, continuing the original numbering of the Chronicle.
The Princeton Times is a newspaper serving Princeton, West Virginia, and surrounding Mercer County. Published weekly on Fridays, it has a circulation of 1,390 and is owned by Community Newspaper Holdings.

Kent County News is a weekly newspaper published in Chestertown, Maryland. The paper is published once a week on Thursday. The first publication was in 1947, but the paper can be traced back to the Chestertown Spy which was established in 1793. It is one of the nation's oldest newspapers. The paper serves Kent County and the city of Chestertown on the Eastern Shore of Maryland.
