The Beachland Ballroom and Tavern (The Beachland Ballroom or The Beachland) is a music venue located in the Collinwood neighborhood of Cleveland, Ohio, United States. It was founded by Cindy Barber and Mark Leddy. [2]
Originally constructed in 1950 as the Croatian Liberty Home, [3] the site was active on many social and political fronts. [4] The ballroom and tavern areas were part of the initial structure, with the kitchen and back bar sections being added in 1976. [5]
Euclid Beach Park, [6] a well-known amusement park that operated between 1894 and 1969, was located at the north end of E. 156th Street, less than a half mile north of the building. [7] The term "Beachland" became slang for the North Collinwood neighborhood around the time, and the venue was named as an homage to the era. Nods to "Beachland" remain in various businesses throughout the area, but little of the former Euclid Beach Park still exists. [8]

Euclid Avenue is a major street in Cleveland, Ohio. It runs northeasterly from Public Square in Downtown Cleveland, through the cities of East Cleveland, Euclid and Wickliffe, to the suburb of Willoughby as a part of U.S. Route 20 and U.S. Route 6. The street passes Playhouse Square, University Circle, Cleveland State University, the Cleveland Clinic, Severance Hall, Case Western Reserve University’s Maltz Performing Arts Center, Case Western Reserve University and University Hospitals Case Medical Center. The HealthLine bus rapid transit line runs in designated bus lanes in the median of Euclid Avenue from Public Square to Louis Stokes Station at Windermere in East Cleveland.
South Beach is a neighborhood on the East Shore of Staten Island, New York City, situated directly south of the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge. South Beach is bounded by New York Bay on the southeast, Seaview Avenue on the southwest, Laconia Avenue on the northwest, Reid and McClean Avenues on the north, and Lily Pond Avenue on the northeast. Collinwood is a historical area on the Northeast Side of Cleveland, Ohio. Originally a village in Euclid Township, it was annexed by the city in 1910. Collinwood grew around the rail yards of the Lake Shore and Michigan Southern Railway and is divided by these same tracks into the neighborhoods of North Shore Collinwood and Collinwood–Nottingham. The Agora Theatre and Ballroom is a music venue located in Cleveland, Ohio, founded by Henry "Hank" LoConti Sr. The Agora name was used by two other Cleveland venues in succession, the latter of which was damaged by fire in 1984. The current Agora venue, known as such since 1986, first opened in 1913 as the Metropolitan Theatre.
Chippewa Lake Park is an abandoned theme park once located in Chippewa Lake, Ohio, Medina County. It operated from 1878 through 1978, after the final owner, Continental Business Enterprises closed it due to a lack of attendance. After the park's closure, its rides and structures were left largely untouched and unmaintained for over 40 years.
The Elysium Arena was an indoor arena at the corner of E. 107th St. and Euclid in Cleveland, Ohio. It hosted the American Hockey League's Cleveland Falcons from 1936 to 1937. The arena held 3,500 people and opened in 1907. It was superseded in 1938 by the Cleveland Arena, and in 1951 was demolished by the city of Cleveland.

Shady Lake Park was a small amusement park operated by the Humphrey Family in Streetsboro, Ohio. The park opened in 1978 and closed in 1982. Most of the rides at Shady Lake Park were relocated from Euclid Beach Park. Many of the rides from Shady Lake Park ended up at Old Indiana Fun Park, including the Euclid Beach Chief. The tall gate structure, resembling the one at Euclid Beach Park, remained standing until 2004. Today, the land along Route 14 is home to Shady Lake Apartments and a Fifth Third Bank.
East 4th Street is a major downtown district in Cleveland, Ohio, known for its food, entertainment, and lack of car traffic. The street runs south from Euclid Avenue to Prospect Avenue. Once a very run down street, the area has been given new life by a multitude of restaurateurs, investors, small business owners and the city of Cleveland itself. The area is the location of many established Cleveland restaurants, bars, nightclubs, and apartments.
The Campus District is a Downtown Cleveland, Ohio district that includes the campuses of Cleveland State University, St. Vincent Charity Medical Center, and the Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C) Metro Campus. Definitions of the district vary. According to the Cleveland City Planning Commission, the district is bounded by Payne Avenue to the north, East 17th Street to the west, and Interstate 90 to the south and east, forming the boundary between Downtown and Cleveland's Central neighborhood. However, the Campus District association places the western boundary of the district to East 18th Street and the eastern boundary further east, to East 30th Street, including Tri-C, with Interstate 77 to the south.
Ginn Academy is an all-boys' public high school located in Cleveland, Ohio. A part of the Cleveland Metropolitan School District, Ginn began instruction in 2007 opening in the building previously occupied by Spellacy Middle School in the city's South Collinwood neighborhood. It is the only all-boys' public high school in the state. It was founded by Glenville High School football and track coach Ted Ginn Sr..
Near West Theatre is an independent, nonprofit theatre troupe housed in a 275-seat venue in the Gordon Square Arts District of the Detroit-Shoreway neighborhood of Cleveland, Ohio. Located along the major thoroughfare Detroit Avenue, two blocks from Cleveland Public Theatre, Near West specializes in musical productions with casts of all ages, with a special emphasis on serving at-risk youth in the Cleveland area. It was founded in May 1978 by Stephanie Morrison, George Hrbek, and Robert Scullin as the Near West Side Shared Ministry Youth Theatre. Its first musical director was Robert Schenk, who directed a production of Godspell in the summer of 1978. The troupe built its new facility over the course of 2014 for $7.3 million, which it raised as part of a wider $30 million Gordon Square Arts District campaign. From 1978 to 2014, the theatre performed in the third-floor ballroom of St. Patrick Church's Catholic Club Building at 3006 Bridge Ave. in Cleveland's Ohio City neighborhood. Prior to opening its state-of-the-art space in 2015, the company rented out various spaces to mount their sizable productions.
