The EC Artists' Library are a series of books released by Fantagraphics Books, which collect anthologies by artists and themes of the comics originally published by EC Comics. [1] [2] [3]

Background

On July 23, 2011, Gary Groth, president at Fantagraphics Books, announced during the company panel at the Comic-Con International in San Diego that Fantagraphics had established an agreement with William M. Gaines Agent, Inc. to publish the EC Comic Library starting in 2012, with the aim to reintroduce the EC stories to new contemporary readers. The reprint run would feature all the EC comic material with the exception of MAD comics, whose rights belonged to another owner. Fantagraphics' publication would become the first EC Comics collection arranged by artist. [4] [2]

Format

Volumes of the series have been published in hardcover format measuring 7.25 inches × 10.25 inches (185 mm × 261 mm) and are printed in black-and-white. The books have been designed by Jacob Covey [1] and each volume contains between 200 and 250 pages including the comics and extras. Individual volumes are also available bundled in a boxed set of four. [5]

<i>Frontline Combat</i>

Frontline Combat is an anthology war comic book written and edited by Harvey Kurtzman and published bi-monthly by EC Comics. The first issue was cover dated July/August, 1951. It ran for 15 issues over three years, and ended with the January, 1954 issue. Publication was discontinued following a decline in sales attributed to the end of the Korean War. The title was a companion to Kurtzman's comic book Two-Fisted Tales. Both titles depicted the horrors of war realistically and in great detail, exposing what Kurtzman saw as the truth about war without glamorizing or idealizing it.

<i>Crime SuspenStories</i> Anthology crime comic

Crime SuspenStories was a bi-monthly anthology crime comic published by EC Comics in the early 1950s. The title first arrived on newsstands with its October/November 1950 issue and ceased publication with its February/March 1955 issue, producing a total of 27 issues. Years after its demise, the title was reprinted in its entirety, and four stories were adapted for television in the HBO's Tales From The Crypt.

<i>Shock SuspenStories</i>

Shock SuspenStories was part of the EC Comics line in the early 1950s. The bi-monthly comic, published by Bill Gaines and edited by Al Feldstein, began with issue 1 in February/March 1952. Over a four-year span, it ran for 18 issues, ending with the December/January 1955 issue.

The series was launched in late 2011, and will comprise 6,000 plus pages over roughly 30 200- to 240-page volumes when it is finished.

Walt Disney's Mickey Mouse is a 2011–2018 series of books collecting the span of work by Floyd Gottfredson on the daily Mickey Mouse comic strip in twelve volumes, as well as Gottfredson's Sunday strips of the same title over two separate volumes. The Amazing Spider-Man: The Ultimate Newspaper Comics Collection is a series of books collecting the first 10 years of The Amazing Spider-Man newspaper comic strips by Marvel Comics, an American comic strip title which debuted on January 3, 1977. It was first syndicated by Register and Tribune Syndicate (1977–1985), later Cowles Media Company (1986), and currently King Features Syndicate (1987–onwards). The series launched in 2015 and is published by The Library of American Comics.

Superman: The Complete Comic Strips 1939-1966 is an unofficial umbrella name for the six following titles: Superman: The Golden Age Dailies, Superman: The Golden Age Sundays; Superman: The Atomic Age Dailies, Superman: The Atomic Age Sundays; Superman: The Silver Age Dailies and Superman: The Silver Age Sundays, all published by The Library of American Comics. These six series of books collects the complete run of the American comic strip Superman by DC Comics, which was originally distributed in newspapers by the McClure Syndicate between 1939 and 1966.

Lucky Luke - The Complete Collection is a series of books collecting the complete output of the Belgian comic title Lucky Luke, a comic title that was first published and introduced in the Belgian magazine Spirou during the late 1940s, and later continuing in Pilote before finally switching back to Spirou and being collected in the album format. The comic title was created by Morris in 1949, and later also written by René Goscinny. The publisher behind this reprint book collection is Cinebook Ltd. The first volume of the series was released in June 2019.
