Takashi Shimura was a Japanese actor who appeared in over 200 films between 1934 and 1981. He appeared in 21 of Akira Kurosawa's 30 films, including as a lead actor in Drunken Angel (1948), Rashomon (1950), Ikiru (1952) and Seven Samurai (1954). He played Professor Kyohei Yamane in Ishirō Honda's original Godzilla (1954). The band reunited and released a new single on January 1, 2020.

<i>Weekly Young Magazine</i> Japanese manga magazine

Weekly Young Magazine is a Japanese weekly anthology magazine published in Tokyo each Monday by Kodansha. The magazine was started on June 23, 1980 and is targeted at the adult male (seinen) demographic. It was published bimonthly, on the second and fourth Mondays of every month, until switching to a weekly publication in 1989. The chapters of the series that run in Weekly Young Magazine are collected and published in tankōbon volumes under the "YoungKC" imprint every four months.

Hirohisa Horie is a Japanese musician and multi-instrumentalist. He plays primarily keyboards and guitar. Horie is one half of the Shibuya-kei duo Neil & Iraiza, and is known for his work with artists such as Kahimi Karie and Cornelius.

Namie Amuro Best Fiction Tour 2008–2009 was the tenth concert tour by Japanese recording artist Namie Amuro in support of her greatest hits album, Best Fiction (2008). The tour began on October 25, 2008 at Makuhari Messe Event Hall in Chiba, Japan and ended on July 12, 2009 at the Shanghai Grand Stage in Shanghai, China. The tour broke attendance records for Japanese solo female artists, playing to almost 500,000 fans across Japan, China and Taiwan.

JAPAN CUTS: Festival of New Japanese Film is an annual festival of modern Japanese cinema held at New York City's Japan Society. The festival was first held in 2007, growing out of the Japan Society's popular bi-annual series, New Films from Japan. But where New Films from Japan was a series that showed, on average, ten films over the course of several months, the JAPAN CUTS festival has scheduled an average of 25-30 films, many of them premieres, over two weeks during the month of July. Screenings are held in Japan Society's 260-seat Lila Acheson Wallace Auditorium.

Keitaro Izawa, better known by his stage name Ichiyo Izawa is a Japanese pianist, vocalist and songwriter, best known for his work in the Ringo Sheena-helmed band Tokyo Jihen. He is also the lead vocalist and pianist of the band Appa.
