The Silent Hour is an upcoming American crime thriller film written by Dan Hall, directed by Brad Anderson and starring Joel Kinnaman and Mark Strong. [1]
Sixteen months after an on-the-job accident leaves him with hearing loss, a Boston police detective (Kinnaman) and his partner (Strong) are drawn into a life-threatening conflict. They must protect a deaf murder witness (Frank) who lives in a vulnerable apartment building. The antagonist, Lynch (Phifer), leads a team of corrupt cops determined to eliminate the witness to prevent her from testifying, creating a tense standoff within the apartment complex. [2]
In October 2022, it was announced that Kinnaman was cast in the film. [3] In November 2022, it was announced that Strong was cast in the film. [4] In January 2023, it was announced that Frank and Phifer were added to the cast. [5]
In February 2024, it was announced that Republic Pictures acquired North American and Asian pay TV distribution rights to the film, which was filmed in Malta and Toronto in 2023. [2]
In April 2024, it was announced that some scenes were going to be filmed in Downtown Kitchener, Ontario. Some signs and national flags were temporarily changed to match the scenery in Boston. [6]
