Thiruporur taluk is a taluk in Chengalpattu district of the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. The headquarters of the taluk is the town of Thiruporur.

History

This taluk was created by the former chief minister J.Jayalalithaa in 2012 bifurcating Chengalpattu Taluk due to population increase. [1]

Thiruporur taluk was previously a part of the Kanchipuram district. After the bifurcation of Kanchipuram district, Thiruporur taluk became a part of the Chengalpattu district.

Administration

The taluk is administered by the Tahsildar office located in Thiruporur. [2]

Thiruporur is a panchayat town in Chengalpattu district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. The Thiruporur Kandaswamy temple is situated in the center of the town. There is a large temple tank in the vicinity of the temple. Thiruporur is located on Old Mahabalipuram Road and is flanked by Kelambakkam on one side and Alathur Pharmaceutical Industrial Estate on the other side, both of which are also on Old Mahabalipuram Road.

Vandalur taluk is a taluk in Chengalpattu district of the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. The headquarters of the taluk is the town of Vandalur.

Mullipakkam is a medium size village located at a distance of 12 km (approximately) away from the town of Chengalpattu. It comes under the Thiruporur Taluk and Chengalpattu District of Tamilnadu. It also comes under Mullipakkam panchayat. As per the 2011 census, 1,926 people living in the village. There are about 462 houses in Mullipakkam village. The total geographical area of village is 349.04 hectares.

Rayamangalam is a small village located at a distance of 16 km (approximately) away from the town of Chengalpattu and 13 km (approximately) away from Thiruporur. It comes under the Thiruporur Taluk and Chengalpattu District of Tamil Nadu. It also comes under Mullipakkam panchayat. As per the 2011 census, 478 people living in the village. There are about 116 houses in Rayamangalam village. The total geographical area of village is 162.43 hectares.
