This Is the Remix is the first remix album by American recording artist Jessica Simpson, released on July 2, 2002, by Columbia Records. The album contains remixes of tracks from her first two studio albums Sweet Kisses (1999) and Irresistible (2001). The remixes were done by DJs such as Peter Rauhofer and Hex Hector. The music was influenced by various genres of electronic music, such as ambient and techno. This Is the Remix did not include any new recordings.

Background

On April 15, 2002, Columbia Records announced through a press release that Simpson would release a remix album titled This Is the Remix. The album includes songs from her previous albums remixed by DJs such as Peter Rauhofer and Hex Hector. [1] So So Def Recordings was responsible for the remix of "Irresistible." The So So Def remix of the track, produced by Jermaine Dupri, features guest appearances by rapper Lil' Bow Wow and Dupri. [2]

Simpson, who began working on the project in July 2000, contacted already established writers and producers to collaborate on the project, including Cory Rooney, Rodney Jerkins, and Walter Afanasieff. In contrast to her debut album Sweet Kisses (1999), which included more ballads, Irresistible explored hip hop and R&B genres of music. Brandy Hambrick, better known by her stage name Ms. B'havin, is an American rapper, based in Atlanta, Georgia. She is best known for her 2004 debut single, "Bottle Action", which entered the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. Hambrick went on to collaborate with artists including Jermaine Dupri and Brooke Valentine, and was featured on the 2006 Yung Joc single "I Know You See It", a top 20 hit on the Billboard Hot 100. Hambrick began releasing new music in 2018.
