Sir Thomas Joseph Duggin (born 15 September 1947) [1] is a British former diplomat who was high commissioner to Vanuatu and ambassador to Colombia.

Biography

Duggin was educated at Thornleigh Salesian College and joined the British Diplomatic Service in 1967. He served in Oslo, Bucharest, Bangkok, La Paz, Mexico City and at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. He was British High Commissioner to Vanuatu 1992–95 and ambassador to Colombia 2001–05. [1]

Duggin was knighted in the 2004 Birthday Honours. [2]

Nobody Runs Forever, also called The High Commissioner, is a 1968 British political neo noir spy thriller action film directed by Ralph Thomas and based on Jon Cleary's 1966 novel The High Commissioner. It stars Rod Taylor as Australian policeman Scobie Malone and Christopher Plummer as the Australian High Commissioner in Britain caught up in corrupt dealings, during delicate negotiations. Taylor's production company was involved in making the film, as was the American company Selmur Productions.

Nikenike Vurobaravu is a Vanuatuan diplomat and politician who has served as President of Vanuatu since 23 July 2022. Previously having been employed in numerous diplomatic and government positions, including as the first resident High Commissioner to Fiji, he was elected as president during the eighth round of the 2022 Vanuatuan presidential election in July 2022. He is a member of the Vanua'aku Pati (VP) political party. On 14 September 2022, Vurobaravu was gilded with the “A’okokikima Maralama Phushueia”, a medal signifying his heroism in the 2021 Revolts that took place following civil unrest in the country
