Tim Kelly (born August 17, 1986) is an American football coach who is the tight ends coach for the New York Giants of the National Football League (NFL). He previously served as the offensive coordinator for the Tennessee Titans in 2023 and also coached with the Houston Texans in various assistant roles, including offensive coordinator, between 2014 and 2021. Kelly has also served as an assistant coach for several college football teams. He attended Eastern Illinois University, where he also played for their football team.

Coaching career

Penn State

In 2012 and 2013, Kelly worked as a graduate assistant for Penn State.

Houston Texans

Starting in 2014, Kelly spent three years as offensive quality control coach for head coach Bill O'Brien and the Houston Texans. He served as the tight ends coach in 2017 and 2018. [1] On February 5, 2019, Kelly was promoted to offensive coordinator. [2] In 2020, Kelly was given an additional role as quarterbacks coach.

On March 10, 2021, Kelly was retained as offensive coordinator under head coach David Culley. [3]

On January 13, 2022, Kelly was fired by the Texans, alongside head coach David Culley. [4]

Tennessee Titans

On February 8, 2022, Kelly was hired by the Tennessee Titans as their passing game coordinator under head coach Mike Vrabel. [5]

On February 7, 2023, Kelly was elevated to offensive coordinator. [6] On January 27, 2024 Kelly was fired as offensive coordinator.

New York Giants

On February 6, 2024, Kelly was hired by the New York Giants as their tight ends coach under head coach Brian Daboll, replacing Andy Bischoff, who left to take the same position with the Los Angeles Chargers. [7] [8]

Personal life

Kelly's brother, Dennis, played offensive tackle at Purdue before being drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in the fifth round of the 2012 NFL Draft.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">2023 Tennessee Titans season</span> 64th season in franchise history

The 2023 season was the Tennessee Titans' 54th season in the National Football League (NFL), their 64th overall, their 27th in the state of Tennessee and their sixth and final under head coach Mike Vrabel. The Titans attempted to improve upon their underachieving 7–10 record from last year. They also attempted to make it back to the playoffs after missing them for the first time since 2018. However, after a Week 15 loss to the Houston Texans in overtime, they were eliminated from playoff contention for the second year in a row. The following week they were locked to last in the AFC South after losing to the Seattle Seahawks 20–17 in Week 16, and they failed to improve on their 7–10 record from 2022. On January 9, the Titans fired Vrabel.
