TimeLine Theatre Company is a not-for-profit theatre company located in the Lakeview East neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. [1] Founded in 1997, TimeLine is a midsize theater with an annual budget exceeding $1 million. [2]

History

TimeLine Theatre Company was founded in April 1997 by six graduates of The Theatre School at DePaul University: Founding Artistic Director Nick Bowling, Brock Goldberg, Kevin Hagan, Juliet Hart, PJ Powers and Pat Tiedemann. On April 18, 1998, the company produced its first play, Summit Conference by Robert David MacDonald, at the Performance Loft Theatre at the 2nd Unitarian Church in Chicago. In September 1999, TimeLine moved into its current home in Baird Hall Theatre at the Wellington Avenue United Church of Christ on Wellington Ave., Chicago. The first production in this new home was Gaslight by Patrick Hamilton, which opened on October 21, 1999.

Starting with their 2011-2012 season, TimeLine began producing one play a season at a larger offsite location to accommodate audience growth. [3]

In 1999, PJ Powers succeeded Bowling as Artistic Director. In 2007, Elizabeth K. Auman was named Managing Director. The company has since grown to include nine full-time staff members. [4]

Awards

TimeLine has received 52 Joseph Jefferson awards, including 11 awards for Outstanding Production in 15 seasons of eligibility. [5]

Chinglish is a play by Tony Award winner David Henry Hwang. It is a comedy about an American businessman desperate to launch a new enterprise in China, which opened on Broadway in 2011 with direction by Leigh Silverman.

Pam MacKinnon is an American theatre director. She has directed for the stage Off-Broadway, on Broadway and in regional theatre. She won the Obie Award for Directing and received a Tony Award nomination, Best Director, for her work on Clybourne Park. In 2013 she received the Tony Award for Best Direction of a Play for a revival of Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? She was named artistic director of American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco, California on January 23, 2018.

Brett C. Leonard is an American dramatist, screenwriter and producer. A member of the LAByrinth Theater Company of New York City, he is best known for his tragic drama The Long Red Road which was performed at the Goodman Theatre in Chicago under Philip Seymour Hoffman as director, starring Tom Hardy, and for his play "Guinea Pig Solo", originally produced as the first co-production between LAByrinth and NY's Public Theater, starring John Ortiz. Leonard also wrote and produced for the HBO TV series Hung (2011)., wrote and served as a Supervising Producer for the AMC series Low Winter Sun, was a writer and Co-Executive Producer on Amazon's Mad Dogs, a Co-Executive Producer on Apple TV’s “Shantaram,” a Consulting Producer on AMC's Fear the Walking Dead and creative consultant on BBC/FX drama Taboo. His plays have been produced in New York, London, Chicago, Los Angeles, Toronto, Berlin, Sydney, Melbourne, etc. Leonard has been nominated for a WGA award, won the Daryl Roth Creative Spirit Award, and has written several one-acts, including his award-winning "What I'm Looking For," which premiered in Chicago's Sketchbook Festival. His low-budget film "Jailbait", based on his play, starred Michael Pitt and Stephen Adly Guirgis, premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival, won Best Narrative Feature at Lake Placid Film Festival and was released theatrically in 2005. He divides his time between Los Angeles and New York City with longtime girlfriend Elizabeth Rodriguez. He is set to write and executive produce a tv series for Miramax based on Gangs of New York, to be directed and executive produced by Martin Scorsese.

Sandra Delgado is a Colombian-American actor, writer, and producer who grew up and works in Chicago, Illinois. She is best known for her work La Havana Madrid, an acclaimed play based in the 1960s about a Chicago nightclub of the same name and the Latino community in Chicago's Lakeview neighborhood.
