Brisbane Lions (2009–2017)
Rockliff made his AFL debut in round 18, 2009 against Collingwood, which was the only match he played that season. [2] He recorded five possessions as Brisbane lost by 40 points.
In 2010, Rockliff forced his way back into the senior Brisbane Lions side in round 3, 2010 where he has since featured predominantly in the midfield rotation. He received an AFL Rising Star nomination in round 13, 2010 [3] and despite being heavily favoured to win the award, [4] he finished third behind winner Dan Hannebery and Tom Scully in the end of year voting. [5]
For the 2011 season with the Lions, who finished 15th on the ladder after only managing four wins, Rockliff averaged 27.7 disposals, 5.6 marks and 5.4 tackles per game. Rockliff was rewarded by winning the club's best and fairest award over favourite Simon Black, who also had a strong season.
For the 2013 season, Rockliff averaged 27.3 disposals and recording 30 more disposals 9 times. Rockliff also finished equal fifth in the Brownlow Medal count, polling 21 votes. [6]
In 2014, Rockliff established himself as one of the elite midfielders of the competition, averaging a league-high 32.7 disposals and 9.1 tackles a game and recording 40 or more disposals five times. In round 18 in the Q-Clash against Gold Coast, Rockliff gathered a career-high 47 disposals (31 kicks and 16 handballs) as well as 10 tackles. Rockliff was awarded his second Merrett–Murray Medal as Brisbane's best and fairest player. [7] Rockliff was also selected in the 2014 All-Australian Team on the Interchange after his remarkable season that was recognised. [8]
In January 2015, it was announced that Rockliff would become the next captain of the Brisbane Lions, succeeding Jed Adcock. [9] He lasted two years in the role and was succeeded by Dayne Beams in 2017. [10] Following the end of the 2017 season, Rockliff began seeking a contract away from Brisbane. [11]

The Merrett–Murray Medal has been awarded annually since 1997, to the player adjudged the Brisbane Lions club champion over the immediately preceding Australian Football League (AFL) season. It is named after Roger Merrett and Kevin Murray. Merrett was a champion at the Brisbane Bears, while Murray was a legend at the Fitzroy Lions, the two clubs which merged to form the Brisbane Lions. The voting system, as of the 2017 AFL season, consists of the senior coach and assistant coaches scoring players based on their overall performance, influence on the game, team contribution and compliance with team values. The most votes a player can receive in a single game is twelve.
Brett Kirk is a former Australian rules football player of the Sydney Swans and was the AFL's International Ambassador. Kirk is currently serving as an assistant coach with the Sydney Swans.
Travis Alexander Boak is a professional Australian rules footballer playing for the Port Adelaide Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). Boak captained the club from 2013 to 2018, and is the club's AFL games record holder with 348 games. He is also a three-time All-Australian, dual John Cahill Medallist and three-time Showdown Medallist.

Dayne Beams is a former professional Australian rules footballer who played for the Collingwood Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). He also previously played for, and captained, the Brisbane Lions during the 2017 season, however he stepped down as captain during the 2018 season due to personal issues. He retired in October 2020 due to personal issues.
Jack Redden is a former Australian rules football player who played for the West Coast Eagles in the Australian Football League (AFL).
Daniel Hannebery is a former professional Australian rules footballer who played in the Australian Football League (AFL). He previously played for the Sydney Swans from 2009 to 2018 and for the St Kilda Football Club from 2019 to 2022. Hannebery won the AFL Rising Star award in his second season in 2010, and is a three-time All-Australian. He also won a premiership with Sydney in 2012 and the AFLCA Champion Player of the Year Award in 2015.

The game achieved the record for the highest pay TV viewing audience ever for an AFL game, with a total of 354,745 viewers tuning in to watch the game on Foxtel channel Fox Footy.
Lachlan Oliver Neale is an Australian rules footballer and the co-captain of the Brisbane Lions in the Australian Football League (AFL). He previously played for the Fremantle Football Club from 2012 to 2018 before being traded to the Brisbane Lions in 2019, where he won the Brownlow Medal in both 2020 and 2023.
Chad Jordan Wingard is a professional Australian rules footballer who plays for the Hawthorn Football Club and previously the Port Adelaide Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). He was drafted to Port Adelaide with the sixth selection in the 2011 AFL Draft from the Sturt Football Club in the South Australian Football League (SANFL).

Dayne Zorko is a professional Australian rules footballer playing for the Brisbane Lions in the Australian Football League (AFL). Zorko is a five-time Merrett–Murray Medallist and was selected in the 2017 All-Australian team. He was also the Lions' leading goalkicker in 2016 and 2017. Zorko served as Brisbane Lions captain from 2018 through to 2022.
Oliver Wines is a professional Australian rules footballer playing for the Port Adelaide Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). Wines received a nomination for the 2013 AFL Rising Star award in Round 1 of the 2013 season, his debut match. He served as Port Adelaide co-captain in the 2019 season. Wines' standout 2021 season earned him a Brownlow Medal with a record-tying 36 votes.
Jackson Macrae is a professional Australian rules footballer playing for the Western Bulldogs in the Australian Football League (AFL). At 191 cm tall and 85 kg (187 lb), he plays as a ball-winning midfielder who can play on the inside or as a running outside midfielder. James Aish is an Australian rules footballer who plays for the Fremantle Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). He previously played for the Brisbane Lions from 2014 to 2015, and Collingwood from 2016 to 2019.
Zach Merrett is a professional Australian rules footballer, currently the captain of the Essendon Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL) A medium-sized midfielder standing at 1.79 metres tall and weighing 83 kilograms, Merrett is able to contribute as a hard-running midfielder capable of collecting a large number of uncontested possessions whilst also being capable of winning a contested ball and clearance. He was recruited by the Essendon Football Club with the twenty-sixth selection in the 2013 AFL draft and made his debut in the 2014 season. Merrett is a four-time Crichton Medallist and three-time All-Australian; in 2023, he was selected to be the 41st captain of the Essendon Football Club.
