Tony Young is a British keyboardist. He was the keyboardist for Gerry and the Pacemakers for over twenty years, from 1996 to 2018 (when frontman Gerry Marsden retired).
Young was a touring member for artists such as Billy J. Kramer, Brian Poole, Chris Farlowe, Steve Ellis, Dave Berry, Wayne Fontana, and P. J. Proby. [1] [2] Young played on recordings published by Alisha's Attic, a duo that comprises the daughters of Brian Poole. [1]
In 1996, Young joined Gerry and the Pacemakers on keys, and toured with the band for over twenty years, until 2018, when frontman Gerry Marsden retired. [2] When Gerry died in January 2021, Young, per Marsden's request, was asked to carry on the legacy of the band as "Gerry's Pacemakers". [3]
Young left Gerry's Pacemakers in October 2023, to join Herman's Hermits. In turn, the Hermit's keyboardist, Tony Hancox, left the Hermits to join Gerry's Pacemakers on keys. In 2018, Young was enlisted on to the panel to be a music examiner for Trinty College London. [1] [2]
Gerry and the Pacemakers were a British beat group prominent in the 1960s Merseybeat scene. In common with the Beatles, they came from Liverpool, were managed by Brian Epstein, and were recorded by George Martin. Their early successes alongside the Beatles were instrumental in popularizing the Merseybeat sound and launching the wider British beat boom of the mid-1960s.
Herman's Hermits are an English rock and pop group formed in 1963 in Manchester and fronted by singer Peter Noone. Known for their jaunty beat sound and Noone's often tongue-in-cheek vocal style, the Hermits charted with numerous transatlantic hits in the UK and in America, where they ranked as one of the most successful acts in the Beatles-led British Invasion. Between March and August 1965 in the United States, the group logged twenty-four consecutive weeks in the Top Ten of Billboard's Hot 100 with five singles, including the two number ones "Mrs. Brown You've Got a Lovely Daughter" and "I'm Henry VIII, I Am".
Gerard Marsden MBE was an English singer-songwriter, musician and television personality, best known for being leader of the Merseybeat band Gerry and the Pacemakers. He was the younger brother of fellow band member Freddie Marsden.

Michael Joseph Moody is an English guitarist, and a former member of the rock bands Juicy Lucy and Whitesnake. He was also a founder-member of Snafu. Together with his former Whitesnake colleague Bernie Marsden he founded the Moody Marsden Band, and later, The Snakes, having previously collaborated with unofficial 5th Status Quo member Bob Young in Young & Moody. Along with Marsden and ex-Whitesnake bassist, Neil Murray, he formed The Company of Snakes and M3 Classic Whitesnake with which they mainly performed early Whitesnake songs. From 2011 to 2015, Moody toured and recorded with Snakecharmer, a band he co-formed.

"Don't Let the Sun Catch You Crying" is a song written by Gerry Marsden, Freddie Marsden, Les Chadwick and Les Maguire, the members of British beat group Gerry and the Pacemakers. It was first recorded and issued as a single by Louise Cordet in February 1964. Shortly after Cordet's version failed to chart, the song was recorded by Gerry and The Pacemakers themselves in April 1964. The Gerry and The Pacemakers recording became an international hit, and remains one of their best known singles.
