Antonio "Tonypet" Taguinod Albano is a Filipino politician currently serving as a member of the Philippine House of Representatives representing the 1st District of Isabela since 2019 and a Deputy Speaker since 2023. He previousy served as Vice Governor of Isabela from 2013 to 2019,chairman of Radio Philippines Network Inc. from 2007 to 2011,and as president and CEO of the same network from 2009 to 2012. [1] He is also the Region II chairman of the Lakas–CMD party. [2]
He was elected representative of the 1st district of Isabela in 2019. He is one of the 70 lawmakers who voted to reject the franchise of ABS-CBN. [3]
He was re-elected in 2022.
Bayani Flores Fernando was a Filipino politician,businessman,and professional mechanical engineer who served as the representative for Marikina's 1st congressional district from 2016 to 2022. The son of a former Marikina mayor,Gil Fernando,he served as the ninth mayor of Marikina from 1992 to 2001,leaving the office having transformed the city from a former municipality to a model Philippine city. The renewal of the congressional franchise of the Philippine media network ABS-CBN to continue broadcasting was a dispute between the administration of President Rodrigo Duterte and the media conglomerate arising on the terms and conditions of the franchise renewal agreement. Amid the controversy,the Congress of the Philippines,country's legislature,was unable to renew the franchise before its expiration date. The congressional franchise expired on May 4,2020,as the Philippines was dealing with the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and the enhanced community quarantine in Luzon. The next day,exercising constitutional powers,the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) then issued a cease-and-desist order demanding ABS-CBN to cease all of its free TV and radio broadcasting immediately. ABS-CBN complied with the government order and shut down all of its radio stations and free television channels later that day. On June 30,2020,the NTC released two alias cease-and-desist orders against ABS-CBN TV Plus and Sky Direct.
