Travis Gerrits (born October 19, 1991, in Milton, Ontario) is a former Canadian freestyle skier. [1] Gerrits was the silver medalist from the 2013 FIS World Championships and was named the FIS Rookie of the Year in 2011.
Gerrits attended W.I. Dick Public Middle School and Milton District High School, both located in the Town of Milton. [2] [3] He described missing half his classes in his school years due to his training and competitions. [2] [3]
With an initial background in gymnastics and trampoline, the latter which Gerrits had competed at the provincial level, [3] he had begun skiing at the age of 6. [3] [4] When he was 10, he competed at provincial skiing championships, where he had gained mentorship and support from fellow skier Nicolas Fontaine. [2] [5] Gerrits had spent his initial ski training sessions abroad in Lake Placid, New York, before the Canadian Freestyle Ski Association built a Quebec facility in 2004. [3]
By the time when Gerrits was 15, he had gained a position on the Canadian National Development Team for aerials. [5] [6] He was invited to the 2010 Winter Olympics as a forerunner for the men's aerials. [4] [6] He was named the international rookie of the year following the 2010 season. [4]
Gerrits spent the end of his 2011–2012 season recovering from a MCL tear. [4] [6]
During the 2012–13 FIS Freestyle Skiing World Cup season, Gerrits won two silver medals. [7] [8]
Gerrits' next breakthrough came when he won silver at the 2013 World Championships in Norway, [9] which meant his qualification for the 2014 Winter Olympics as a representative for Canada. After he commented on his success saying, "To me, second place is a victory in my eyes (because) I qualified for the Olympics. To be honest, I couldn't be happier. I did everything I wanted to do today and this whole season. It's awesome." [10]
At the end of 2013, Gerrits won the World Cup aerials in Beijing, China. [11] [12] [13]
In the 2014 Winter Olympics, Gerrits had come in 7th place for the Olympic men's aerials final. [14]
Gerrits withdrew from the 2018 Winter Olympics qualifying to enter rehabilition for sustained inquires. [15]
According to a 2019 interview, Gerrits had retired from his skiing career after 14 years on the Canadian national team. [16]
In 2017, Gerrits opened up about his experience living as an athlete with bipolar I disorder. [17] Diagnosed in 2014, he commented on his treatment management, and how his career results "came in spurts and peaks" due to his illness. [18]
In 2020, Gerrits was inducted into the Milton Sports Hall of Fame. [19]

John Alexander Tonelli is a Canadian former professional ice hockey forward from Milton, Ontario. He was a four-time Stanley Cup champion with the New York Islanders, and also played with the Calgary Flames, Los Angeles Kings, Chicago Blackhawks, and the Quebec Nordiques of the National Hockey League.
The Brantford 99ers are a Junior A ice hockey team from Brantford, Ontario, Canada. They are a part of the Ontario Junior Hockey League. The 99ers have previously been known as the Milton Icehawks, Milton Merchants, Milton Flyers, and Milton Steamers as Milton hosted junior hockey from 1966 to 2018. After purchasing the team, Darren DeDobbelaer of Brantford moved the club to that city for the start of the 2018-19 season, re-branding the team as the 99ers. In 2023, DeDobbelaer sold the team.
Aleksei Gennadyevich Grishin is a Belarusian freestyle skier who competed at five consecutive Olympics from 1998 to 2014. He won Belarus' only medal at the 2002 Winter Olympics, a bronze in aerials. In 2010, he won the first ever Winter Olympics gold medal for his country, again in the aerials. He finished fourth in 2006 and eighth in 1998. He was the Olympic flag bearer for Belarus at the opening ceremony of the 2014 Games.
Matt O'Meara is a former professional Canadian football guard who played for the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the Canadian Football League. He was signed on for two years by the Roughriders as the third overall selection in the 2005 CFL Draft, with his position as offensive lineman on the injury reserve list for the team. He played CIS Football at his alumni McMaster University, his position being offensive tackle. While at McMaster University, he became the 2003/2004 OUA First Team All-Star. He played in three Yates Cup championships before he signed on with the Roughriders in 2005.
Alexandre Bilodeau is a Canadian retired freestyle skier from Rosemere, Quebec, Bilodeau currently resides in Montreal, Quebec. Bilodeau won a gold medal in the men's moguls at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, becoming the first Canadian to win a gold medal at an Olympic Games held in Canada. At the 2014 Winter Olympics, he became the first Olympian in history to defend his gold medal in any freestyle skiing event as well as the first Canadian to defend an individual title since Catriona Le May Doan at the 2002 Winter Olympics. Bilodeau is a three-time FIS World Champion in dual moguls, and is also a two-time Worlds silver medallist in moguls. He was the FIS World Cup champion for the 2008–09 season winning the moguls and overall freestyle skiing title that season. In his final World Cup race, he retired with a win, and in doing so, surpassed Jean-Luc Brassard for the most World Cup medals by a Canadian.
Alex Harvey is a retired Canadian cross-country skier who competed between 2005 and 2019. Harvey is also a member of the Quebec Provincial Cycling Team.
Dave Duncan is a World Cup freestyle skier. Duncan is currently a member of the Canadian National Ski Cross Team.
Chloé Dufour-Lapointe is a Canadian freestyle skier. She was the 2013 FIS World Champion in dual moguls with her winning run at the 2013 World Championships. Dufour-Lapointe was the runner-up and silver medallist at the FIS Freestyle World Ski Championships 2011 as well and placed fifth at the 2010 Olympic Games. She won silver at the 2014 Olympic Games behind her sister Justine.
Mikaël Kingsbury is a freestyle skier from Quebec. He is the most accomplished mogul skier of all time. He achieved eminence early in his career after earning the 2009–10 FIS World Cup Rookie of the Year award. He is a ten-time FIS Freestyle World Cup title-holder for overall moguls and nine-time title-holder for overall freestyle, owning the records for most men's Moguls World Cup titles and Overall Freestyle World Cup titles. He also owns the records for career World Cup moguls victories with 78, and consecutive Freestyle World Cup event wins with 13. He is the first man to have won both the moguls and dual moguls World Championship events, and has won the most medals at the Freestyle World Championships of any male competitor in history, having won a medal in 13 of the 14 events he has competed in. Kingsbury won the Olympic silver medal in 2014 and 2022, and, at the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics, he won the gold medal in men's moguls.
Dara Howell is a Canadian freestyle skier. She was the first freestyle skier to win a gold medal in ski slopestyle at the inaugural event at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi. Howell has also won a bronze medal in women's slopestyle at the Winter X Games XVII in Aspen, Colorado, behind Tiril Sjåstad Christiansen and Kaya Turski.

Bastien Midol is a French freestyle skier. He has won 4 FIS World Cups and won a silver medal at the 2013 FIS Freestyle World Ski Championships. His brother is also a medallist skier, Jonathan Midol.
Jesse Cockney is a Canadian Olympic cross-country skier of Inuvialuit heritage whose father, Angus Cockney, also was a Canadian national team member and national champion. The 2014 Winter Olympic Games in Sochi, Russia is where Cockney made his Olympic debut. Cockney competed in two events at Sochi, the sprint, and the 50 km mass start, which are the shortest and longest events at the Games. Prior to the Olympics, Cockney had a successful Junior career, winning three gold medals at the 2011 Canada Winter Games. He also made his World Cup debut in 2011. While growing up in Canmore, Alberta, Cockney participated in the ski development program. Cockney is a member of the Nordic Hills Ski Club and Canadian Senior Team. He is fluent in both English and French. Actress and activist Marika Sila is his younger sister.
Cassie Sharpe is a Canadian freestyle skier. Sharpe became the Olympic champion in women's halfpipe after winning gold in Pyeongchang, South Korea at the 2018 Winter Olympics. She won a silver medal at the 2015 World Championships in halfpipe in Kreischberg and won gold and bronze in superpipe at the Winter X Games in 2016 and 2018, respectively.

Gordon "Gord" Krantz is the mayor of Milton, Ontario, in Canada. He was elected mayor in the Municipal Elections of 1980, after serving as town councillor from 1965 to 1980. He has been re-elected for a total of 21 terms. With his re-election in 2014, Krantz surpassed the retired Hazel McCallion as Ontario's longest-serving mayor on December 1, 2016, and the longest-serving mayor of major municipality in Canada. He was re-elected by a wide margin in the October 22, 2018 municipal election.
