Troms Kraft is a power company that operates twelve hydroelectric power plants and the power grid in fifteen municipalities in Troms, Norway. The retail division has 100,000 customers and traded 5 TWh of electricity in 2006, in addition to 40 GWh of district heating. Upon demerger on 1 January 2009, parts of Troms Kraft Marked AS were merged with Ishavskraft AS; Troms Kraft AS owns 50% of Ishavskraft AS. [1] The company operates a fiberoptic broadband service in Tromsø. The company is also planning to construct Fakken windfarm.

Court case

On 22 November 2011, Troms Kraft announced that discrepancies had been discovered in the accounts of the subsidiary Kraft & Kultur in Sweden of between 1.2 and 1.8 billion Swedish kronor. The case is being investigated by the Swedish Economic Crime Authority (Økokrim) and the former leader of Kraft & Kultur was remanded in custody. In May 2012, an auditor's report concluded that the company's revenues had been inflated by approx. NOK 1.5 billion by means of accounting manipulation. [3]

In September 2013, an investigation report was presented which had taken two years to prepare, which concluded that the loss could have been avoided.

The Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA) is a non-departmental public body of the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, formed by the Energy Act 2004. It evolved from the Coal and Nuclear Liabilities Unit of the Department of Trade and Industry. It came into existence during late 2004, and took on its main functions on 1 April 2005. The Kvænangsbotn Hydroelectric Power Station is a hydroelectric power station in the municipality of Kvænangen in Troms county, Norway. It utilizes a drop of 305 meters (1,001 ft) between its intake reservoir at Little Lakes and South Fjord. The reservoir is regulated at a level between 315 m (1,033 ft) and 305 m (1,001 ft). The Abo River is also utilized by the power plant. Water is supplied to the reservoir by the Småvatna, Lassajavre, and Cårrujavrit Hydroelectric Power Stations. The plant came into operation in 1965. In 1999 the company received a license to transfer water from the Brenn River, Šleađui River, and Olbmá River. The plant has a Francis turbine and operates at an installed capacity of 44 MW, with an average annual production of about 176 GWh. The plant is controlled by Kvænangen Kraftverk AS, with a 48.2% share owned by Troms Kraft.
