Tullaherin (Irish : An Tulaigh Thirim) is a civil parish and townland in County Kilkenny, Ireland. [1]
Tullaherin townland is the site of a number of historical archeological remains, including a round tower, an 11th-13th century ruined church and two ogham stones. Kilbline Castle, a 16th-century tower house, also lies within the civil parish.
The Tullaherin round tower stands 22.5 m high and was probably built in the 11th century. The cap is missing and the top 3 m are a second phase of masonry. It is reported that the tower was struck by lightning in 1121. Most probably it was after this date that the top was rebuilt on the same principle as Clonmacnoise with eight windows instead of the usual four. [2]
The present church at Tullaherin was built about 1840. [3] [note 1] The Tullaherin Folk Museum can be viewed at the old parochial residence. The museum was established in 1981 by Duchas and the Tullaherin Heritage Society. [5]

Kells Priory is one of the largest medieval monuments in Ireland. The Augustine priory is situated alongside King's River beside the village of Kells in the townland of Rathduff (Madden), about 15 km south of the medieval city of Kilkenny. The priory is a National Monument and is in the guardianship of the Office of Public Works. One of its most notable features is a collection of medieval tower houses spaced at intervals along and within walls which enclose a site of just over 3 acres (12,000 m2). These give the priory the appearance more of a fortress than of a place of worship and from them comes its local name of "Seven Castles".
Jerpoint Abbey is a ruined Cistercian abbey, founded in the second half of the 12th century in County Kilkenny, Ireland. It is located 2.5 km south west of Thomastown on the R448 regional road.
