The Indira Gandhi Arena or Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium, is located at the Indraprastha Estate in the eastern region of New Delhi, It is the largest indoor sports arena in India and the third-largest in Asia.
Sushil Kumar Solanki is an Indian freestyle wrestler. He was competing in the 66 kg weight division when he won the 2010 world title, a silver medal at the 2012 London Olympics and a bronze medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, which made him the only Indian to win two individual Olympic medals. His 2008 Olympic medal was second for India in wrestling, and the first since Khashaba Dadasaheb Jadhav's bronze medal at the 1952 Summer Olympics. In July 2009, he received the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna – India's highest honour for sportspersons. On 3 October 2010, Kumar handed the Queen's Baton to Prince Charles in the Queen's Baton Relay for the 2010 Commonwealth Games Opening Ceremony. Sushil won the gold medal in the 74 kg division at the 2014 Commonwealth Games.

And it was after a gap of 52 years that India won a Gold in Athletics when Krishna Poonia won Gold in Women's discus throw and when Geeta Phogat won India's first ever gold medal in women's wrestling.

Om Prakash Singh Karhana is an Indian shot putter. He is 6 feet 7 inches (2.01 m) tall and weighs 138 kilograms (304 lb). He trains at the Salwan Throws Academy, where he first began to learn how to shot put, and is supported by Olympic Gold Quest, a not-for-profit foundation to identify and support Indian athletes. He was originally a basketball player, but was approached by Lalit Bhanot, secretary of the Athletics Federation of India, to consider switching to the shot put.
The India national netball team is the national netball team of India. The team competed at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi, for the first time. India were coached by Panchali Tatke, who took over from Mary Murcia Lourdes one month before the start of the Games. Prachi Tehlan captained the team, which finished 12th. As of 27 January 2013, India were 29th in the IFNA World Rankings.

The 2010 Commonwealth Games, officially known as the XIX Commonwealth Games, were held in Delhi, India, from 3 to 14 October 2010. A total of 6,081 athletes from 71 nations in the Commonwealth of Nations competed in 272 events in 21 sports. The games were the largest international multi-sport event to be staged in Delhi and in India, eclipsing the 1982 Asian Games that Delhi hosted. Events took place at twelve competition venues, and twenty venues were set aside as training venues. Other venues in the games included the Commonwealth Games Village and the Main Media Centre.

Ashwini Chidananda Shetty Akkunji is an Indian sprint athlete from Siddapura, Udupi who specializes in 400 metres. Ashwini has won Gold Medals at the 2010 Commonwealth Games and the 2010 Asian Games in 4x400 m relay team event with Manjeet Kaur, Mandeep Kaur and Sini Jose and an individual gold medal in the 400 metres hurdles on 25 November 2010 at the 2010 Asian Games held at Guangzhou, in China. She is also a recipient of the Rajyotsava Prashasti (2010), a civilian honour awarded by the Indian State Government of Karnataka
Vivek Mishra is an Indian gymnast from Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh. He has represented India in such international competitions as the 2006 Commonwealth Games and the 2006 Asian Games. He was one of five gymnasts from Allahabad named to the gymnastics team for the 2010 Commonwealth Games but was unable to compete because of a shin bone fracture.
