Career
2003–2010
In 2003, Peters released her first album, Sparkler. Thr following year she embarked on a solo cross-country tour. In January 2006, she recorded her first album with the band Ice Cream on Mondays, Thin Thread. The collaboration produced three albums and numerous tours across Europe and America in which Peters was usually accompanied by the band's lead guitarist, Manuel Schicchi.
Peters has also produced solo records over the years, including the acoustic EP Blackout. One of the tracks, "Afford to Pretend", was featured on NPR's All Songs Considered Open Mic in 2006. [2] Peters’ songs "Love Story" and “The Next Big Bang” were featured on The Real World: New Orleans [3] and Keeping Up with the Kardashians respectively.
Her last album recorded with Ice Cream on Mondays, Sweetheart, Keep Your Chin Up, received positive critical acclaim and debuted at #12 on The Euro Americana Chart. [4] Peters and the band played on more than 100 dates in 2009 in support of the album, including shows at The Green Note in London and Folk Club in Torino, Italy. [5] After a follow-up tour across Europe comprising 50 shows in early 2010, Vanessa and the band parted ways.
2010–2021
Peters released The Christmas We Hoped For, a holiday album featuring classics and an original composition, in 2011. The album finished on a number of top 10 holidays lists, including About.com Top 2011 Pop Holiday albums. [6]
The following year Peters released The Burn The Truth The Lies, which was financed by a successful Kickstarter campaign. [7] The album was recorded in Austin by Jim Vollentine (Spoon, Patty Griffin) and produced by Rip Rowan (Old 97's, Deathray Davies). It featured performances by Grammy Award-winning producer and guitarist Joe Reyes, [8] as well as Apples in Stereo drummer John Dufilho and The Polyphonic Spree's Jason Garner.
On October 31, 2014, [9] Peters gave a talk entitled "Music in the age of free" [10] at a TEDx Stuttgart event, where she illustrated the struggle that independent musicians face earning a living by making and selling music in the digital age.
In 2015 Peters released With The Sentimentals, which was recorded live in Denmark with Scandinavian Americana band The Sentimentals.
Her next album, The Burden of Unshakeable Proof, was released on March 1, 2016. It was recorded by producer Rip Rowan at their home studio in Dallas. Later that year, it became the first of Peters' albums to be released on vinyl.
Peters's album Foxhole Prayers was released on CD and vinyl on October 5, 2018, to critical acclaim. It was produced by Rip Rowan and John Dufilho at Electrofonic in Dallas, Texas. Tracks were recorded between November 2017 and June 2018.
Peters release a collection of cover songs called Mixtape in April 2020. The songs were recorded over a four-year period and feature electric guitars by Dallas's Christopher Holt (Don Henley).
Peters's most recent album is Modern Age. It was recorded entirely with Peters' European touring band "The Electrofonics" which consists of Federico Ciancabilla (electric guitar), Andrea Colicchia (bass), Matteo Patrone (keyboards), and Rip Rowan (drums) while on tour in Europe in November 2019, and finished in Italy in March 2020. The album was released on April 23, 2021.
Erica Abi Wright, known professionally as Erykah Badu, is an American singer, rapper, songwriter, record producer and actress. Influenced by R&B, soul, and hip hop, Badu rose to prominence in the late 1990s when her debut album Baduizm (1997), placed her at the forefront of the neo soul movement, earning her the nickname "Queen of Neo Soul" by music critics.
The Apples in Stereo, styled as The Apples in stereo, are an American pop/rock band associated with Elephant 6 Collective, a group of bands also including Neutral Milk Hotel, The Olivia Tremor Control, Elf Power, Of Montreal, and Circulatory System. The band is largely a product of lead vocalist/guitarist/producer Robert Schneider, who writes the majority of the band's music and lyrics. Currently, The Apples in Stereo also includes longstanding members John Hill and Eric Allen (bass), as well as more recent members John Dufilho (drums), John Ferguson (keyboards), and Ben Phelan (keyboards/guitar/trumpet).
Nanci Caroline Griffith was an American singer, guitarist, and songwriter. She appeared many times on the PBS music program Austin City Limits starting in 1985. In 1994 she won a Grammy Award for the album Other Voices, Other Rooms.
Old 97's is an American rock band from Dallas, Texas. Formed in 1992, they have released twelve studio albums, two full extended plays, shared split duty on another, and they have one live album. Their most recent release is titled Twelfth.
Melanie Susan Oxley is an Australian musician, singer-songwriter and primary school teacher. Oxley was a member of the dance pop group, The Sparklers, which in October 1988 released their debut album, Persuasion.
The Alarm are a Welsh rock band that formed in Rhyl, Wales, in 1981. Initially formed as a punk band, the Toilets, in 1977, under lead vocalist Mike Peters, the band soon embraced arena rock and included marked influences from Welsh language and culture. By opening for acts such as U2 and Bob Dylan, they became a popular new wave pop band of the 1980s.
Peter Hamilton Rowan is an American bluegrass musician and composer. He plays guitar and mandolin, yodels and sings.
U.S. Bombs are an American punk rock band, formed in 1993 in Orange County, California, by Duane Peters and Kerry Martinez. For much of the band's career, the U.S. Bombs consisted of Peters and Martinez, with bass guitarist Wade Walston and drummer Chip Hanna. They have also played with Jonny "Two Bags" Wickersham. The U.S. Bombs play '77 style punk, influenced by The Clash, Heartbreakers, Ramones, Flyboys, Chelsea, Stiff Little Fingers, Shane MacGowan & The Popes, Sham 69, the Flys, & the Ruts.
Foley is an American bassist, drummer and singer who is best known as the "lead bassist" with Miles Davis from 1987 until 1991.
Michelle Malone is an American singer-songwriter and guitarist. Born and raised in Atlanta, she started performing in bands and writing songs as a teenager. Initially, she would sign with Arista Records after performing around parts of Atlanta. Soon after, she would release an album entitled Relentless with her band Drag the River. She would also collaborate with The Harshed Mellows with the song "U.S. Blues" for the tribute album Deadicated. She would again switch labels, going to Velvet records, but decided to found her own record company, SBS Records.
Jejune was an American emo band formed in 1996 at Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. The band has been commonly identified with the emo genre, and was heavily involved with the scene at the peak of the "second wave" of emo in the mid-1990s. The three founding members, Arabella Harrison (Bass/Vocals), Joe Guevara (Guitar/Vocals) and Chris Vanacore (Drums), met while studying at the college. The band relocated to San Diego, California, in 1997.
The Deathray Davies are an indie rock band from Dallas, Texas. The band's name is a reference to Ray Davies, the lead vocalist of The Kinks.
Beowülf is an American crossover thrash metal band formed in Venice Beach, California, in 1981 by Michael Alvarado, Dale Henderson, Mike Jensen and Paul Yamada. The group never gained a large mainstream success, but is considered one of the first bands that defined the "Venice Scene" in the 1980s, along with Suicidal Tendencies, Los Cycos, Neighborhood Watch, No Mercy, Excel and Uncle Slam, who all played a mix of skate punk, hardcore, heavy metal and thrash.
Sara Katherine Wooldridge, known professionally as Sara K., is an American singer-songwriter and acoustic guitarist. She withdrew from the music business in 2009.
Fishboy is an American four-piece indie pop band from Denton, Texas which began as the solo project of Eric Michener. He was given the nickname while on a middle-school field trip after he was dared to pluck and swallow a fish at the Dallas World Aquarium. The band has released albums with Lauren Records, Happy Happy Birthday To Me Records in Athens, Georgia and associated with Business Deal Records, a music collective in Austin, Texas.

Un-Sentimental is the third album by Beowülf, released in 1993. It is the only official Beowülf album to be released under the band name BWF. This album marked a change for the band, drifting more to bluesy rock and moving over from their classic hardcore thrash style. Released during the grunge era, Beowülf achieved small success with the album in Los Angeles as the band had gathered some followers.
1500 or Nothin' is an American musical ensemble composed of record producers, songwriters, musicians and music videographers, formed in 2006, in Los Angeles, California. With headquarters located in Inglewood, California, 1500 or Nothin' is composed of three internal divisions: 1500 Or Nothin' Music, 1500 Or Nothin' Video, and 1500 Or Nothin' Ancillary. In 2006, 1500 or Nothin' began to create "a variety of music genres including Hip-Hop Rap, Rhythm & Blues, Alternative Rock, Urban and New Adult Contemporary. The collective 1500 or Nothin' has lent their writing, production or instrument skills to records for Justin Timberlake, Asher Roth, Jay-Z, Kanye West, T.I., Bruno Mars and B.o.B.
Vanessa N. Collier is an American blues, funk, and soul saxophonist, singer and songwriter. She has been nominated for seven Blues Music Awards and won one of them in 2019 and another in 2020.
