T. G. Vinayakumar, professionally credited as Vinayan, is an Indian film director, screenwriter, producer, and lyricist, who works predominantly in Malayalam cinema and occasionally in Tamil cinema. He has done 40 Malayalam movies, 4 Tamil movies and one Telugu movie.[ citation needed ]
Vinayan started his career with the film Super Star. [2] And he has directed the following films like Vasanthiyum Lakshmiyum Pinne Njaanum , Akasha ganga 2,Karumadikkuttan , Oomappenninu Uriyadappayyan , Dada Sahib , Vellinakshatram , [3] Aakasha Ganga , Rakshasa Rajavu , Kalyana Sougandhikam , Kasi (Tamil), Enn mana vaanil, Independence, Sathyam, Albhuthadweep, Athishayan, Dracula and Sipayi Lahala. The genres of his films include comedy, horror, action, fantasy and family drama. [4]
Vinayan also introduced a handful of actors and singers in the Malayalam film industry. Jayasurya, Indrajith Sukumaran, Anoop Menon, Honey Rose, Priyamani, Manikkuttan, Suresh Krishna, Meghana Raj, Lakshmi Menon, Sithara(singer), Sudeep kumar(singer)etc. are some of the actors and singers Vinayan has introduced in Malayalam.
In 2005, Vinayan wrote and directed the film Albhuthadweep (Wonder Island) which cast around 300 dwarfs for the first time in a film. The two-foot-high hero of the film, Ajayan, was written in the Guinness Book of Records and Vinayan himself was listed in India's Limca Book of Records. The film garnered the FilmFare and the Cinema Express awards, and was successfully remade in 2007 in the Tamil language by Vinayan himself. [5]
Vinayan has also remade a few of his films into Tamil. He is also a script writer and lyricist. He directed a Malayalam television serial Iniyonnu Visramikkatte before making movies. [6]
Vinayan is the founder/president of the MACTA Federation. He has also launched a co-operative society (with the assistance of the Government of Kerala) for the benefit of film workers. [7] Vinayan is also the Advisory Member of the Cine Workers Welfare Board, sponsored by the Government of India. [8]

Albhutha Dweep is a 2005 Indian Malayalam-language fantasy film directed by Vinayan. The plot is set on an otherworld island where all men are dwarfs and women are of normal height, and humans are considered monsters. The film stars Prithviraj Sukumaran and Guinness Pakru alongside Mallika Kapoor, Jagathy Sreekumar, Jagadish, Indrans, Kalpana, Ponnamma Babu and Bindu Panicker in supporting roles.
Padmapriya Janakiraman, better known mononymously as Padmapriya, is an Indian actress who mainly appears in Malayalam films. Padmapriya made her acting debut in the Telugu film Seenu Vasanthi Lakshmi in 2004.

Kasi is a 2001 Indian Tamil-language drama film written and directed by Vinayan. The film has Vikram playing the eponymous character of a blind village singer. A remake of the director's own Malayalam film Vasanthiyum Lakshmiyum Pinne Njaanum (1999), the film has Kaveri reprising her role from the original and Kavya Madhavan making her Tamil debut as the main female lead roles,former as the love interest and the latter as the sister role respectively. The film was produced by Aroma Mani for Sunitha Productions. The film score and soundtrack was composed by Ilaiyaraaja.

He played the lead role in Athbhutha Dweepu, a Malayalam movie directed by Vinayan. The movie was later dubbed in Tamil and Telugu versions.

Aakasha Ganga is a 1999 Indian Malayalam-language supernatural horror film directed by Vinayan, starring Divya Unni and Mukesh and produced by Aakash Films. It was dubbed in Tamil as Avala Aaviya and in Hindi as Maaya Ka Saaya. A sequel of the movie Aakasha Ganga 2 has been released on November 1, 2019.
Yakshiyum Njaanum is a 2010 Indian Malayalam-language horror film written and directed by Vinayan. The film was produced by Rubon Gomez through the company RG Productions India. It stars Goutham P. Krishna, Meghna Raj, Thilakan, and Spadikam George. Its original score and soundtrack were composed by Sajan Madhav.
Rakshasa Rajavu is a 2001 Indian Malayalam-language action/crime thriller film written and directed by Vinayan and starring Mammootty in the lead role along with Dileep, Meena, Kalabhavan Mani, Kavya Madhavan, Vijayakumar, Rajan P. Dev, Cochin Haneefa, and Sukumari. The film was released on 31 August 2001 and was subsequently dubbed in Telugu and Tamil as Commissioner Rudrama Naidu and Commissioner Eeswara Paandiyan.
Vasanthiyum Lakshmiyum Pinne Njaanum is a 1999 Indian Malayalam-language drama film directed by Vinayan based on a screenplay by J. Pallassery. The film features Kalabhavan Mani, Kaveri, Praveena and Sai Kumar in the lead roles. The film centers around Ramu, a blind poet and singer who supports his family. However, their happiness dissipates soon after he gets cheated by a rich businessman turned politician. The film is reported to be inspired from Dosti (1964).
