The Virginia Brewery is a former brewery in Virginia, Minnesota, United States. It was built in 1905 and closed during Prohibition. [2] The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980 for its local significance in the themes of architecture, commerce, and industry. [3] It was nominated for being a distinctive example of the local breweries that contributed to economic and social life (through athletic sponsorships) of the Iron Range before Prohibition and competition from larger brands put them out of business. [2]

The majority of the ten-building complex was constructed between 1886 and 1911. Fitger's, as it is now known, has undergone adaptive reuse as an indoor mall with shops, restaurants, nightclubs, a hotel, and a museum on the brewery's history.

The Sweetwater Brewery, also known as the Green River Brewery, was built in 1900 in Green River, Wyoming. The present structure is the surviving remnant of a three-building complex comprising an office/saloon, engine house, and the present brewery building. It was the first brewery in Wyoming, with operations dating to 1872 when Adam Braun began the business, the first of a series of ethnic German brewers. The brewery was further developed by Otto Rauch and Karl Spinner. The present structure was built by the fourth proprietor, Hugo Gaensslen, a Chicagoan who decorated the building with turrets reminiscent of the Chicago Water Tower.

It was nominated for serving as the center of religious and social life for Virginia's Polish Americans.

It was established in 1862 at the foot of Sugar Loaf, the prominent river bluff from which it took its name. The extant brewery complex, which includes storage caves dug into the bluff, dates from 1872 when the original building was destroyed by fire and a replacement built. The brewery was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978 for its local significance in the theme of industry. It was nominated for its association with prominent local brewer Peter Bub and his successors, who produced beer on the site until 1969.

The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980 for its local significance in the themes of industry and social history. It was nominated for reflecting the social distance enforced between industry elites and laborers in the early 20th century. The city's working class population at the time was crowded into boarding houses and small cottages, and it was common for large companies to erect lavish residences for their managerial class in the belief that telegraphing class distinctions was essential for maintaining workforce discipline.

In 1982 the Jukola Boardinghouse was listed on the National Register of Historic Places for its local significance in the themes of architecture, exploration/settlement, and social history. It was nominated as a well-preserved example of this once-common and essential lodging option in the early years of Iron Range mining.

The Coates House is a historic house in Virginia, Minnesota, United States. It was built around 1912 as one of the city's larger and finer residences. A succession of prominent people in the local lumber industry lived in it. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980 for its local significance in the themes of architecture and social history. It was nominated for demonstrating the class distinctions telegraphed by housing stock on the Iron Range at the turn of the 20th century. Large houses for the managerial class provided a sharp contrast to the boarding houses and small cottages into which the period's working class population was crowded.
