Wardell is an indie folk [1] rock band formed by siblings Sasha and Theo Spielberg.
Sasha and Theo Spielberg are siblings and children of director Steven Spielberg and actress Kate Capshaw. [2] Theo's adoptive father is Jewish, and his adoptive mother is a convert to Judaism; both are Sasha's biological parents.
They performed together as kids in puppet shows and cover bands but only began their band in earnest in 2010, with live shows starting in 2012. [2] They started collaborating in college, when Theo asked Sasha to sing over a chord progression he had been working on, which became the song "Opossum" and was named an NPR Song of the Day in late 2011. [2] Sasha has said the duo created the song quickly, "like, in an hour". [2] The song brought the band national exposure and led to their signing with Roc Nation. [2]
The band played at South by Southwest in March 2013 [2] and released their Brother/Sister EP in the summer. [1] Their album Love/Idleness was released on February 10, 2015 on their own label. Its first track, "Funny Thing", was initially released in November 2014.
The band's name, Wardell, is Theo's middle name and their mother's nickname. [2] Sasha is the band's vocalist and Theo plays guitar, drums, piano, and other instruments. [1] The duo were influenced by The Strokes' Is This It , Christina Aguilera's Stripped , and Janis Joplin's Pearl . [1] The band is planning a full-length album. [2]
Christopher R. Weingarten of Spin described their sound at their debut as "the flavor of the month ... two years ago" and added that music journalists were not seriously considering the band, though they "clearly" had an audience. [2] Jessica Hopper of Rookie magazine did not find the band's sound to be unique and added that their fame was not proportional to their status as a new band. [2] Critics were frustrated by the difficulty of classifying the band's music into existing genres. [2]
Their song "Opossum" was named an NPR Song of the Day in late 2011, [2] and the band was The Guardian 's band of the day in March 2013. [3]

In a career spanning more than 30 years, Wilson has made music prolifically and earned critical acclaim. His honours include six nominations for Grammy Awards: twice with Porcupine Tree, once with his collaborative band Storm Corrosion and three times as a solo artist. In 2017 The Daily Telegraph described him as "a resolutely independent artist" and "probably the most successful British artist you've never heard of".
John David "J. D." Souther is an American singer, songwriter, and actor. He has written and co-written songs recorded by Linda Ronstadt and the Eagles. Souther is probably best known for his songwriting abilities, especially in the field of country rock. He co-wrote some of the biggest hits for the Eagles, including "Best of My Love", "Victim of Love", "Heartache Tonight", and "New Kid in Town". "How Long", which appears on the Eagles' Long Road Out of Eden, was written by Souther and originally recorded on his first solo album in 1972. Souther recorded two major hit songs in his solo career: "You're Only Lonely" (1979) and "Her Town Too" (1981), a duet with his longtime friend James Taylor.
Twiztid is an American hip hop duo from Livonia, Michigan, known for both their horror-themed lyrics and rock-influenced sound. Formed in 1997, Twiztid is composed of rappers Jamie "Madrox" Spaniolo and Paul "Monoxide" Methric. Spaniolo and Methric are also members of the group House of Krazees with Bryan "The R.O.C." Jones, which formed in 1992.

The National is an American rock band from Cincinnati, Ohio, formed in Brooklyn, New York City in 1999. The band consists of Matt Berninger (vocals), twin brothers Aaron Dessner and Bryce Dessner, as well as brothers Scott Devendorf (bass) and Bryan Devendorf (drums). The duo were signed by Warner Chappell Music in 2013 and have since released four studio albums: Royal Blood (2014), How Did We Get So Dark?
