WatsUp TV Africa Music Video Awards (commonly abbreviated as a WAMVA) is an award [1] presented by the TV channel WatsUp TV to honor the best in the African music videos scene.

The award was launched in Accra, Ghana in September 2016 [2] coupled with the announcement of Nominees across 20 [3] categories.

WAMVA will be honoring Anglophone and the Francophone artists from the Africa music video medium. [4]

On 28 December, [5] winners of the maiden edition were announced [6] in Accra ahead of a Made in Africa concert to be hosted in 2017 which will feature all winners. [7]

DJ Arafat Ivorian musician, singer and record producer

Ange Didier Houon, known professionally as DJ Arafat, Arafat Muana and various other stage names, was an Ivorian DJ and singer who made music in the Coupé-Décalé genre. He has also won numerous local awards like the Nyasa Music awards and the Urban Music People in categories such as best live act, best video and best Male artist. In 2018, he won the UMP Fashion awards for Most Fashionable Celebrity.

Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jr., is a Ghanaian reggae-dancehall artist. He is known by his stage name Shatta Wale, formerly Bandana. His best-known singles are "Dancehall King", "My level" and "We taking over" .He is also known for Already from Beyoncé's Black is King Album which featured Major Lazer. His song "Dancehall King" earned him the Artiste of the Year at the 2014 edition of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards. Wale is also an actor who appeared in the films Never Say Never, The trial of Shatta Wale and Shattered Lives. Wale's 2004 recording "Moko Hoo" was nominated for a Ghana Music Award.

Livingstone Etse Satekla, better known by his stage name Stonebwoy, is a Ghanaian Afropop, dancehall and reggae musician.

WatsUp TV is a 24 hour digital entertainment Television channel made for the Pan-African Bi-Lingual community and also aired on various television channels across Africa founded by Abd Traore.

Mr Eazi Nigerian musician (born 1991)

Oluwatosin Ajibade, better known by his stage name Mr Eazi, is a Nigerian singer, songwriter, and entrepreneur. He is a pioneer of Banku music, a fusion of sound he describes as a mixture of Ghanaian highlife and Nigerian chord progressions and patterns. Mr Eazi relocated to Kumasi, Ghana in 2008 and enrolled at KNUST, where he began booking artists to perform at college parties. He showed interest in music after recording a guest verse on "My Life", a song that gained traction and became a popular record at KNUST. Mr Eazi released his debut mixtape About to Blow in July 2013. He gained an international audience following the release of the Efya-assisted single "Skin Tight". His second mixtape Life Is Eazi, Vol. 1 – Accra To Lagos was released on 10 February 2017.

Fancy Gadam Ghanaian dancehall musical artist

Mujahid Ahmed Bello known by his stage name Fancy Gadam, is a Ghanaian afropop, dancehall and reggae musical artist. In 2017 he won Ghana Music Awards for Best New Artist and in 2020 was named BestAfrobeat Entertainer at the International Reggae and World Music Awards.

Sherif Abdul Majeed, known by his stage name Maccasio, is a Ghanaian Hip hop, Hiplife, and Afropop recording Artist and Entrepreneur. He is from the Kingdom of Dagbon, in the Northern Region of Ghana. Maccasio raps and sings in his native language Dagbani with the ability to mix it with terms in English and Twi. He has performed on stages with artists such as Davido, Shatta Wale, Samini, Stonebwoy, Medikal and VVIP.
