The Odisha Gana Parishad, was an Indian political party in the Indian state of Odisha, a splinter group of Biju Janata Dal. The party was founded on October 29, 2000. The president of OGP was Bijoy Mohapatra. Mahapatra had been expelled from BJD in February 2000. Mahapatra had come into conflict with BJD leader Navin Patnaik over the election of Dilip Ray to the Rajya Sabha.
Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi was an Indian National Congress politician, former Union Minister and a member of the 14th Lok Sabha of India. He represented the Raiganj constituency of West Bengal. He died on 20 November 2017, aged 72, after nine years in a coma following a massive stroke.
The Pashchimbanga Bangla Akademi is the official regulatory body of the Bengali language in West Bengal, India. It was founded on 20 May 1986 in Kolkata to act as the official authority of the language and is entrusted with the responsibility of reforming Bengali spelling and grammar, compiling dictionaries, encyclopedias and terminologies and promoting Bengali language and culture in West Bengal. Though the Akademi has no enforcement power over their rules and regulations, they are widely accepted by the Governments of West Bengal and Tripura as well as a considerable number of private publishing houses and institutions such as the Oxford University Press and the Ramakrishna Mission.
Sujan Chakraborty is an Indian Communist politician and a member of the Communist Party of India (Marxist). He was the MLA of Jadavpur from 2016 to 2021. In the 2016 West Bengal Assembly elections, he defeated his nearest rival, Minister for Power in the Government of West Bengal, Manish Gupta of the Trinamool Congress. In 2021 he was defeated by Moloy Majumdar of AITC by a margin of 38869 votes. He was a member of the 14th Lok Sabha representing Jadavpur constituency in West Bengal state. He is contesting the 2024 Indian General Election as a CPI(M) candidate from the Dum Dum Lok Sabha constituency.

It was established on the 9th of April, 1971, founded by Indira Gandhi after merging the Kerala Students Union and the West Bengal State Chhatra Parishad to form a national students' organisation. He assumed this position on 17 June 2013. In 1964, a major split occurred in the Communist Party of India. The split was the culmination of decades of tensions and factional infighting. When India became independent in 1947, differences arose of how to adapt to the new situation. As relations between the Nehru government and the Soviet Union improved, a faction that sought cooperation with the dominant Indian National Congress emerged within CPI. This tendency was led by S.A. Dange, whose role in the party hierarchy became increasingly controversial. When the Sino-Indian War broke out in 1962 Dange's opponents within CPI were jailed, but when they were released they sought to challenge his leadership. In 1964 the party was finally divided into two, with the left faction forming the Communist Party of India (Marxist). The split had a lot of regional variations. It also impacted other organizations, such as trade union and peasant movements. The split has been studied extensively by scholars, who have sought to analyze the various domestic and international factors involved.

He had formerly served as the All India Joint Secretary of the Students' Federation of India (SFI), the students wing of CPIM and was member of its central secretariat. Then he became a member of the state committee secretariat of Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI), which is the youth wing of CPIM. He has been inducted into the West Bengal State Committee of Communist Party of India (Marxist) in the 23rd Party conference of state in March 2022 and currently remains a member of it.
