Whitewood Creek is a stream in Butte, Meade and Lawrence counties, in the U.S. state of South Dakota. [1]

Butte County is a county in the U.S. state of South Dakota. As of the 2010 United States Census, the population was 10,110. Its county seat is Belle Fourche. The county was established in the Dakota Territory on March 2, 1883, and given the descriptive name based on the French word for a hill.

Meade County, South Dakota County in the United States

Meade County is a county in the U.S. state of South Dakota. As of the 2010 United States Census, the population was 25,434. Its county seat is Sturgis. The county was created in 1889 and was named for Fort Meade, which was garrisoned as a United States military post in the area in 1878 and was named for General George Meade.

Lawrence County is a county in the U.S. state of South Dakota. As of the 2010 United States Census, the population was 24,097. Its county seat is Deadwood.

Whitewood Creek was named from the white-barked quaking aspen trees along its banks. [2]
