William Hope is a Canadian actor, best known for his numerous roles in the Alien and Alien vs. Predator franchises, portraying Lieutenant Scott Gorman in Aliens (1986) and Alien: River of Pain (2017), the Xenomorphs (Aliens) and Yautja (Predators) in Aliens Versus Predator (1999) and Aliens Versus Predator 2 (2001), Doctor H. G. Groves in Aliens vs. Predator (2010), and Colonial Marshal Waits in Alien: Isolation (2014) and its 2019 animated miniseries adaptation.

Career

Early on, he turned down a major role in Kubrick's Full Metal Jacket for a role in James Cameron's Aliens (1986) as Lt. Gorman. [1] Soon after he appeared as Kyle MacRae in the horror film Hellbound: Hellraiser II (1988), the sequel to Clive Barker's Hellraiser (1987).

Hope appeared in Shining Through (1992) and The Saint (1997), Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow (2004) and XXX (2002). He co-starred in two Wesley Snipes' action epics The Marksman (2005) and The Detonator (2006) and as the villain in Steven Seagal's action movie Submerged (2005).

He played Harry Ramos in the award-winning TV docudrama 9/11: The Twin Towers (2007), and as the President of Lehman Brothers in The Last Days of Lehman Brothers (2009) starring James Cromwell, in theatrical releases he has been seen opposite Woody Harrelson in The Walker (2007), Robert Downey Jr. in Sherlock Holmes (2009), [2] and The Whistleblower (2010) with Rachel Weisz and Legacy with Idris Elba. He had television work including playing Matt LeBlanc's agent in Episodes (2011). He was also in Luc Besson's The Lady (2012) about the life of Aung San Suu Kyi and in 2011 he guest-starred in the BBC's final series of Spooks (2002) and alongside Johnny Depp in Tim Burton's Dark Shadows (2012).

From 2009 to 2021, he provided voices for Edward, Toby, Whiff, Rocky and Farmer McColl in the US dub and also Bert of the Thomas & Friends children's TV and DVD series. He also returned to the horror genre, working in the Solar Film's experimental Dark Floors , released in Europe in 2008. He is regularly heard on BBC Radio and is part of the BBC "Broken News" cast. He appeared in a book tour with Tim Parfitt, his brother-in-law. [3]

Alien vs. Predator is a science fiction action and horror media franchise created by comic book writers Randy Stradley and Chris Warner. Cenobite (<i>Hellraiser</i>) Fictional creatures in the works of author Clive Barker

The Cenobites are fictional, extra-dimensional, and seemingly demonic beings who appear in the works of Clive Barker. Introduced in Barker's 1986 novella The Hellbound Heart, they also appear in its sequel novel The Scarlet Gospels, the Hellraiser films, and in Hellraiser comic books published (intermittently) between 1987 and 2017. Detective Inspector G. Lestrade, or Mr. Lestrade, is a fictional character appearing in several of the Sherlock Holmes stories written by Arthur Conan Doyle. The stories of Sherlock Holmes by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle have been very popular as adaptations for the stage, and later film, and still later television. The four volumes of the Universal Sherlock Holmes (1995) compiled by Ronald B. De Waal lists over 25,000 Holmes-related productions and products. They include the original writings, "together with the translations of these tales into sixty-three languages, plus Braille and shorthand, the writings about the Writings or higher criticism, writings about Sherlockians and their societies, memorials and memorabilia, games, puzzles and quizzes, phonograph records, audio and video tapes, compact discs, laser discs, ballets, films, musicals, operettas, oratorios, plays, radio and television programs, parodies and pastiches, children's books, cartoons, comics, and a multitude of other items — from advertisements to wine — that have accumulated throughout the world on the two most famous characters in literature."

Sherlock Holmes has long been a popular character for pastiche, Holmes-related work by authors and creators other than Arthur Conan Doyle. Their works can be grouped into four broad categories:

<i>Hellraiser</i> (franchise) Horror franchise

Hellraiser is a British-American horror media franchise that consists of eleven films, as well as various comic books, and additional merchandise and media. Based on the novella The Hellbound Heart by English author Clive Barker, the franchise centers around the Cenobites which includes the primary antagonist named Pinhead.

Sam John Troughton is an English actor who has made appearances in Robin Hood (2006–2009), Alien vs. Predator (2004), Hex (2005), The Town (2012), The Hollow Crown (2016), The Ritual (2017), Peterloo (2018), Chernobyl (2019), The Outlaws (2021), Litvinenko (2022), and Napoleon (2023).

<i>Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem</i> 2007 film by the Brothers Strause

Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem is a 2007 American science fiction action film starring Steven Pasquale, Reiko Aylesworth, John Ortiz, Johnny Lewis and Ariel Gade. The directorial debut of The Brothers Strause, the film was written by Shane Salerno and is a direct sequel to Alien vs. Predator (2004) as well as the second and latest installment in the Alien vs. Predator franchise, the sixth film in the Alien franchise and the fourth film in the Predator franchise, continuing the crossover between the Alien and Predator franchises.

Alien is a science fiction horror and action media franchise centered on the original film series which depicts warrant officer Ellen Ripley and her battles with an extraterrestrial lifeform, commonly referred to as the Alien ("Xenomorph"), and the prequel series following the exploits of the David 8 android and the creators of the eponymous creatures referred to as the "Engineers".

This article describes minor characters from the Sherlock Holmes stories by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, and from non-canonical derived works. The list excludes the titular character as well as Dr. Watson, Professor Moriarty, Inspector Lestrade, Mycroft Holmes, Mrs. Hudson, Irene Adler, Colonel Moran, the Baker Street Irregulars, and characters not significant enough to mention.
