Bacon's Rebellion was an armed rebellion held by Virginia settlers that took place from 1676 to 1677. It was led by Nathaniel Bacon against Colonial Governor William Berkeley,after Berkeley refused Bacon's request to drive Native American Indians out of Virginia. Thousands of Virginians from all classes and races rose up in arms against Berkeley,chasing him from Jamestown and ultimately torching the settlement. The rebellion was first suppressed by a few armed merchant ships from London whose captains sided with Berkeley and the loyalists. Government forces arrived soon after and spent several years defeating pockets of resistance and reforming the colonial government to be once more under direct Crown control.

First Families of Virginia (FFV) are the families in colonial Virginia who are socially prominent and wealthy,but not necessarily the earliest settlers. They descend from English colonists who primarily settled at Jamestown,Williamsburg,the Northern Neck and along the James River and other navigable waters in Virginia during the 17th century. Edward Digges was an English barrister and colonist who became a premium tobacco planter and official in the Virginia colony. The son of the English politician Dudley Digges represented the colony before the Virginia Company of London and the royal government,as well as served for two decades on the colony's Council of State. Digges served as interim Colonial Governor of Virginia from March 1655 to December 1656,and for longer periods as the colony's receiver general and auditor-general. He is also known for planting mulberry trees and promoting the silk industry in the colony.

Jordan Point is a small unincorporated community on the south bank of the James River in the northern portion of Prince George County,Virginia,United States. It is about 20 miles from Richmond and 30 miles upstream from Jamestown on the James River. It was the location of extensive archeological research between 1987 and 1993. This research provided substantial information about human existence in the area from the prehistoric to the late colonial eras. In particular,the research extensively studied the Jordan's Journey settlement that existed between 1620 and 1640 during early years of the Virginia colony.

Gerrard Foulke or Fowke(1626-October 15,1669) was an English merchant who became a planter,military officer and politician in the Colony of Virginia,then the Maryland Colony. He succeeded his brother and business partner Thomas Fowke and represented Westmoreland County in the House of Burgesses,before marrying a widow,moving to Port Tobacco and representing Charles County in the Maryland Assembly.
Otto Thorpe or Thorp(1630-winter of 1696/1697) was an English merchant who became a militia officer and politician of Middle Plantation in the Colony of Virginia. His home was commandeered during Bacon's Rebellion,and in April 1682,Thorpe briefly represented York County in the House of Burgesses,before returning to England,where he died more than a decade later.
