The Windsor Wolves are a rugby league team based in the town of Windsor, New South Wales. The club fields both junior and senior teams in the Penrith District Rugby League competitions. The club has fielded teams in semi-professional, New South Wales Rugby League competitions. In March 2020 the club re-entered the third-tier Ron Massey Cup and fourth-tier Sydney Shield competitions. These competitions were cancelled after one round of matches due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Australia. [1] When the Sydney Shield was reorganised for a restart in July 2020, Windsor did not participate. [2]

Playing Record in NSWRL Competitions

Second Tier

The Wolves received an enormous boost in July 2007 as they signed a deal with the Penrith Panthers to act as a feeder club for them in the NSW Cup for three seasons. This was a great achievement for the small club and meant that they participated in one of two competitions that sit immediately below the National Rugby League. The deal was extended, but ended at the conclusion of the 2013 season.

Third Tier

The Windsor Wolves had played in the NSWRL Jim Beam Cup since the inception of the competition in 2003 to 2016. This competition is now known as the Ron Massey Cup. In the mid-1970s, Windsor competed in an equivalent, the Metropolitan Cup. They also participated for a single season in 1993.

The Wolves won the Jim Beam Cup competition twice, in 2005 and 2008, defeating Sydney Bulls on both occasions 23–18 in 2005 & 36–16 in 2008 grand finals. [4]

Fourth Tier

The Windsor Wolves competed in the 2015 and 2016 Sydney Shield seasons. They entered a team in the 2020 competition, playing one match before the competition was cancelled. Windsor did not enter a team when the competition was reorganised and run through July to September. In the mid-1970s, Windsor fielded a team in the Metropolitan Cup Reserve Grade competition, winning that premiership on two occasions.

The Sydney Bulls were a rugby league team based in the suburb of Bass Hill in south-western Sydney. Founded in 1999, the club was formed by Lebanese-Australian players and businessmen who were involved in the 1997 Lebanon Rugby League World Sevens side. Since 2000, the Bulls competed in the semi-professional Metropolitan Cup and, since its inception in 2003, the NSWRL Jim Beam Cup competition in NSW, Australia. Their colours are black, white green and red. They were included in the NSW Cup for 2009 and acted as a feeder club for the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs under the name of the Bankstown City Bulls. The Sydney Bulls folded at the end of the 2009 season.

Cabramatta Two Blues, colloquially known as Cabra, is an Australian rugby league football club that was originally formed in 1919 and then later completely formed as the Two Blues in 1939. They have always based from the Parramatta Junior Leagues, and their junior teams compete in the Parramatta District Junior Rugby League Association. They currently compete in the Sydney Shield and have previously competed in the Ron Massey Cup however both sides did not field a side for the 2022 season in either competition. The 2013 New South Wales Cup season is the second tier rugby league competition held in New South Wales, after the National Rugby League. The 2012 season of the New South Wales Cup commences on Saturday 19 March 2013. The Minor Premiership has ended with Cronulla sitting on top of the ladder at 43 points as the teams head into finals. The grand final will be played at ANZ Stadium at the 2013 NRL Grand Final, and will be broadcast by Fox Sports.

The New South Wales Rugby League administered several competitions during the 2021 rugby league season in Australia. The season was impacted by the Delta variant of the COVID-19 pandemic. Junior competitions, Country representative tournaments, and City versus Country representative matches were concluded prior to the impact of lockdown in June 2021. The lockdowns, however, led to the postponement and subsequent cancellation of senior competitions.
