The Wisconsin WIC Association, founded in 1998, is an American professional association with a mission to support and promote Wisconsin's WIC program (Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children) as well as assist the National WIC Association in ensuring continual program existence. In 1973, Wisconsin became a pilot state for the WIC Program. [3] [ failed verification ] By 1974, with a budget of $350,000 and total participation of 1,300: WIC operated in Green Bay Area Free clinic, Menominee Tribe, and Great Lakes Intertribal Council. By 1980, WIC had expanded to over 55 projects, including the State’s two major urban locations Milwaukee and Madison. By 1990, the majority of the current WIC Program was in place. [4] [ failed verification ] Divided into 5 regions and WIC services were being provided in nearly every county of Wisconsin. [5] As WIC expanded, it became increasingly more difficult to maintain contact and communication with the numerous WIC projects throughout the state. Recognizing that, on June 30, 1998 a group of like-minded individuals met together resulting in the formation of Wisconsin WIC Association (WWA).[ citation needed ]
The WWA organizes meetings and projects by WIC employees, politicians, and community members to encourage funding, grant dispersal, and educational programs related to the WIC.[ citation needed ]

Children's Hospital Colorado is an academic pediatric acute care children's hospital system with its flagship hospital located in the Anschutz Medical Campus near the interchange of I-225 and Colfax Avenue in Aurora, Colorado. The hospital system has more than 600 pediatric beds at its four hospitals located in Aurora, Colorado Springs, Highlands Ranch and Broomfield. As Children's Colorado is a teaching hospital, it operates a number of residency programs, which train newly graduated physicians in various pediatric specialties and subspecialties. The hospital is affiliated with the University of Colorado Denver School of Medicine. The hospital provides comprehensive pediatric specialties and subspecialties to infants, children, teens, and young adults aged 0–21 and sometimes until 25 throughout Colorado and the Midwest. The hospital also sometimes treats adults that require pediatric care. Children's Colorado is the only children's hospital in Colorado. Additionally, the hospital has outpatient centers, campuses, and doctors offices around Colorado. The hospital features an ACS verified Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center and features a rooftop helipad to transport critically ill patients.

The Farmers' Market Nutrition Program (FMNP) is a federal assistance program in the United States associated with the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children that provides fresh, unprepared, locally grown fruits and vegetables and nutrition education to WIC participants. Women, infants and children that have been certified to receive WIC program benefits or who are on a waiting list for WIC certification are eligible to participate in the FMNP.
California by far has the largest WIC program in the nation. It is a program of the California Department of Public Health which administers contracts with 84 local agencies – half local governments and half private, non-profit community organizations – which serve 1.46 million participants at 650 local sites statewide, with FY 2010 food expenditures of $827 million and nutrition services and administration expenditures of $304 million.
The Wai‘anae Coast Comprehensive Health Center (WCCHC), founded in 1972, is a community health center serving the healthcare needs of the Wai‘anae Coast on the west side of O‘ahu, in the U.S. state of Hawaii. When it was first established, WCCHC had one doctor and five staff members. In its 40th year in business, WCCHC had 540 employees at the main center in Wai‘anae and four satellite clinics in surrounding areas, including Kapolei and Waipahu.

Alicia Razo Juarez Sanchez (1926-1985) was a Latina activist who founded the Clinica Campesina in Lafayette, Colorado. Alicia Sanchez Elementary School in Lafayette is named after her. In 1977, she was named Boulder County Woman of the Year.
As of 2022, abortion in Missouri is illegal, with abortions only being legal in cases of medical emergency and several additional laws making access to abortion services difficult. In 2014, a poll by the Pew Research Center found that 52% of Missouri adults said that abortion should be legal vs. 46% that believe it should be illegal in all or most cases. According to a 2014 Public Religion Research Institute (PRRI) study, 51% of white women in the state believed that abortion is legal in all or most cases.
