The World Snooker Trickshot Championship was a trick shot world championship, played on Snooker tables; generally played by primarily Snooker-based players. [1] The event was played between 1991 and 2006, and was organised by Matchroom Sport. Events generally used a combination of judges scores, and audience vote to determine the winners. [2] [3] [4]

Snooker Cue sport

Snooker is a cue sport that originated among British Army officers stationed in India in the second half of the 19th century. It is played on a rectangular table covered with a green cloth, with pockets at each of the four corners and in the middle of each long side. Using a cue stick and 21 coloured balls, players must strike the white ball to pot or pocket the remaining balls in the correct sequence, accumulating points for each pot. An individual game is won by the player scoring the most points. A match is won when a player wins a predetermined number of frames.

Steve Davis, is a retired English professional snooker player from Plumstead, London. He dominated the sport during the 1980s, when he reached eight World Snooker Championship finals in nine years, won six world titles, held the world number one ranking for seven consecutive seasons, and became the first snooker player to earn over £1 million in prize money. His encounter with Dennis Taylor in the 1985 World Championship final is widely noted as one of the most famous matches in snooker history. Decided on the final black, it set a record post-midnight UK television audience of 18.5 million viewers. The BBC named Davis its Sports Personality of the Year in 1988, and he remains the only snooker player ever to win the award.

Terrence Martin Griffiths, is a retired Welsh snooker player and current snooker coach and pundit. He became World Champion in 1979 at the first attempt becoming the second qualifier to win the title, after Alex Higgins in 1972, and was runner-up in 1988. He achieved the notable feat of reaching at least the quarter-finals of the World Championship for nine consecutive years from 1984 to 1992. He also won the Masters in 1980 and the UK Championship in 1982, making him one of only eleven players to have completed snooker's Triple Crown. He was known for his slow, cautious, yet elegant style of play.

William Joseph Thorne was an English professional snooker player. He won one ranking title, the 1985 Classic. He also reached the final of the 1985 UK Championship, losing 16–14 to Steve Davis after leading 13–8. He was noted for his break-building, and was among the first players to compile 100 century breaks. He earned the nickname "Mr Maximum." After retiring as a player, Thorne became a snooker commentator, primarily for the BBC.

Mosconi Cup

The Mosconi Cup is an annual nine-ball pool tournament contested between teams representing Europe and the United States since 1994. The trophy is named after American player Willie Mosconi, and has been compared to the Ryder Cup in golf. It can also be compared to the Weber Cup in bowling.

The Premier League Snooker was a professional non-ranking snooker tournament. It was held from 1987 until 2012. The tournament was played in a round-robin format over a number of weeks, normally from mid-September to early-December, around the other World Snooker events in various locations.

The 2010 Championship League was a professional non-ranking snooker tournament that was played from 4 January to 25 March 2010 at the Crondon Park Golf Club in Stock, England.

Championship League is a professional snooker tournament, devised by Matchroom Sport. It became a ranking event from September 2020, having previously been non-ranking. The tournament was originally held at the Crondon Park Golf Club in Stock, Essex, from its debut in 2008 until 2016. From 2017–2018, it was held at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry. Kyren Wilson is the reigning champion.

Dennis Taylor Northern Irish former professional snooker player, 1985 world champion, 1987 Masters champion

Dennis Taylor is a Northern Irish former professional snooker player and commentator. He is most well known for winning the 1985 World Snooker Championship, where he defeated Steve Davis with the final ball of the 35th frame in the final to seal an 18-17 win. During his playing career he wore distinctive specially designed glasses manufactured for snooker, often described as looking upside-down, giving him a unique look on the circuit.
