Sun Xiaoguo, was a serial child rapist and gang leader from Kunming, China. Sun was known for the brutality of his crimes as well as his evasion of justice. Sun was sentenced to death in 1998, but his sentence was commuted to twenty years due to corruption within the system. He was released in April 2010, after serving 12 years and 5 months. After being released from prison, Sun participated in organised crime under the name "Li Linchen". During a crackdown on organised crime, Sun was arrested on charges of leading an organised criminal gang. When Sun's name appeared in the list of criminal gangs, his case attracted the attention of the media, as he had been sentenced to death 21 years prior. Sun was executed on 20 February 2020. Sun's brutal methods stunned the investigating staff, and the phrase "[Deng] Xiaoping rules in the day, [Sun] Xiaoguo rules in the night" spread in Kunming.

The Yeh Yung-chih incident was a campus incident involving sexual diversity issues in Taiwan. Yeh Yung-chih, a third-grade student of Gao-Shu Junior High School in Gaoshu Village, Gaoshu Township, Pingtung County, was bullied by some classmates because of his gender nonconformity. On April 20, 2000 at 11:42, Yeh left the classroom early to go to the bathroom. He was later found seriously injured and lying in a pool of his own blood. He later died at a local hospital. This incident incited a discussion about gender education in Taiwanese society, which led to the revision of the original "Both Genders Equality Education Act" to "Gender Equity Education Act" in 2004. The education policy was also altered from a traditional view of sex into a more universal gender equality education system.
Between April 1992 and December 1992, there were two cases of taxi drivers being killed in Singapore, specifically in secluded areas of Yishun. The first was Seing Koo Wan, a 58-year-old taxi driver who was found with several stab wounds on his body. Despite a police appeal, Seing's killer(s) was never found and the case remained unsolved for eight months before another taxi driver, Teo Kim Hock, was allegedly kidnapped by two men who demanded a ransom from his family. However, in truth, 59-year-old Teo was killed before the calls for ransom arrived.
On 8 August 1995, a 26-year-old prostitute named Ching Bee Ing was stabbed seven times by her 35-year-old co-worker Teo Kim Hong at a brothel along Teck Lim Road. Ching, a Malaysian, died as a result of four fatal knife wounds to her liver and heart. Teo, a Singaporean, was charged with murder after she was arrested for the brutal stabbing. Teo was found guilty and sentenced to death in January 1996, and after the loss of her appeal, Teo was hanged on 30 August 1996.
