Yedakumari is the place in Sakleshpur taluk in the midst of western ghats in the state of Karnataka, India. There is a railway station here. The place lies en route Mangalore to Bangalore railway line and is the most fascinating stretch of the green route. The gauge conversion from metre gauge to broad gauge of railway track(line) between Hassan and Mangaluru was financed by Hassan Mangalore Rail Development Company (HMRDC) a joint venture of Government of Karnataka and Ministry of Railways. [1] The train running in between these two cities generally halt at Yedakumari for technical reasons. Yedakumari railway station has become resting place for trekkers who are trekking the western ghats following the railway tracks. [2] There are reports of movement of Wild Elephants and other wild animals along this railway track. [3]

The Coimbatore–Chamrajnagar line is a proposed railway line from Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu to Chamrajnagar in Karnataka. It is a part of the Southern Railway zone of the Indian Railways. Upon construction, this line would connect Western Tamil Nadu with Karnataka. The line would give direct rail connectivity between Coimbatore and Mysore and would reduce the travel distance from Coimbatore to Mysore and Bangalore. It would also connect Tamil Nadu with the Southern districts of Karnataka.

Sakleshpura railway station is on Mangaluru to Hassan railway line. Sakleshpur railway station comes under jurisdiction Mysuru division of South Western Railway zone( SWR ) of Indian Railways. The gauge conversion from metre gauge to broad gauge railway track from Hassan to Mangalore was financed by Hassan Mangalore Railway Development Company (HMRDC) a joint venture of Karnataka state government and Indian railways.
