Zachary Michael Pearlman (born May 19, 1988) is an American actor. He is best known for his role as Zack in The Virginity Hit . He has co-starred in short-lived television comedies such as MTV's The Inbetweeners and on the Fox sitcom Mulaney .

Early life

Pearlman was born in Royal Oak, Michigan, the son of Susan (née Weldon) and Mark Pearlman. He is the third child in the family. He has two older siblings Aaron and Allie as well as a younger sister Hannah. [2] Pearlman is of Jewish descent. [3] He is a 2006 graduate of Pioneer High School (Ann Arbor, Michigan). [4]

Growing up he was very active in local Ann Arbor, Michigan comedy and theatre. [2]

Career

Pearlman's acting career began after he submitted an entry for a contest with the website Funny or Die and was given the opportunity to audition for a role in the film The Virginity Hit . Pearlman landed a lead role in the film, which was released in September 2010. [1] [5] To increase the realism of the film, the directors gave Pearlman and his castmates cameras to film many of the scenes themselves. [6] Pearlman began his television career as Leslie Kaczander in the season 1 finale of Breaking In . Pearlman played Jay in the American remake of the British series The Inbetweeners on MTV, [7] but the series was cancelled after one season due to low viewership. [8]

The Inbetweeners is a British coming-of-age television teen sitcom, which originally aired on E4 from 2008 to 2010 and was created and written by Damon Beesley and Iain Morris. The series follows the misadventures of suburban teenager William McKenzie and his friends Simon Cooper, Neil Sutherland and Jay Cartwright at the fictional Rudge Park Comprehensive. The programme involves situations of school life, uncaring school staff, friendship, male bonding, lad culture and adolescent sexuality. The Virginity Hit is a 2010 American found-footage comedy film directed by Huck Botko and Andrew Gurland, produced by Adam McKay and Will Ferrell, and starring Matt Bennett, Zack Pearlman, Jacob Davich, Justin Kline and Nicole Weaver. The film itself is a series of videos on a teenager's attempt to lose his virginity, being recorded from cell phones to video cameras. Most of the cast used their own names for their characters.

The Inbetweeners is an American television sitcom developed by Brad Copeland for MTV. The show stars Joey Pollari, Bubba Lewis, Mark L. Young, Zack Pearlman, Alex Frnka and Brett Gelman. The show is a remake of the original UK series of the same name written and created by Damon Beesley and Iain Morris, who served as executive producers alongside Copeland, Aaron Kaplan and Lauren Corra. It ran on MTV from August 20, to November 5, 2012. On November 28, 2012, the series was canceled after one season, due to poor ratings and reviews.
