Zee Bangla is an Indian Bengali-language general entertainment pay television channel owned by Zee Entertainment Enterprises.

History

The channel was launched on 15 September 1999 as Alpha TV Bangla, along with Alpha TV Marathi, Alpha TV Telugu and Alpha TV Punjabi. [1] It was the first Bengali-language satellite television channel in India. [2]

On 19 June 2011, all Zee channels rebranded with a new logo which was like number two instead of alphabet Z. [3] [4] [5] [ importance? ]

In 2019, Samrat Ghosh became the head of the channel. [6] [ importance? ] The channel's new graphics was revealed during Sa Re Ga Ma Pa on 7 October 2018. [7] [8] [9] [ importance? ] In February 2020, it was one of the largest Bengali-language television channels in India by viewership. [10]

On 30 September 2021, Bangladesh imposed a blackout on foreign television channels, including Zee Bangla, that broadcast commercials. [11] Two weeks later, Zee Bangla resumed broadcasting in Bangladesh, albeit without the commercials. [12]

Zee Bangla Cinema is an Indian Bengali-Language Movie channel owned by Zee Entertainment Enterprises. [23] It was launched on 23 September 2012. [24] It is a sister channel of Bengali-language network Zee Bangla. [25] [26]

Ei Chheleta Bhelbheleta a Bengali television Drama Series that premiered on 28 March 2016 to 23 July 2017 and aired on Zee Bangla. The show was produced by Magic Moments Motion Pictures, it starred Prapti Chatterjee and Somraj Maity in lead roles, Nabanita Malakar, Sabitri Chatterjee, Anusuya Majumdar, Shankar Chakraborty and Bharat Kaul in supporting roles. The show got replaced by a Fiction show Karunamoyee Rani Rashmoni.

Anirban Bhattacharya is an Indian actor, theatre actor, singer and director. His first successful theatre production was Debi Sarpamasta, written by Manoj Mitra, directed by Debesh Chattopadhyay. His other notable works are Anthony Soudamini, Nagamandala, Jara Agun Lagay, Bisorjan, FM Mahanagar, Karu Basana, Awdyo Shesh Rajani, Athoi etc. In 2017, he got the Mahindra Excellence Theatre Awards (META) as Best Actor in a Leading Role (Male) for Awdyo Shesh Rajani. In 2015, he started his film career with the Zee Bangla telefilm Kader Kuler Bou. He got fame for his character as Bishan Roy from the film Eagoler Chokh. For playing this role, he was picked up as the Filmfare Awards East for Best Actor in a Supporting Role in 2017. In 2019, He got his first Best Actor Award for the role of Nikhilesh Chowdhury from the movie Ghawre Bairey Aaj which was immensely praised by critics and audiences. He made his directorial debut through the Bengali crime drama web series Mandaar, which is inspired by William Shakespeare's Macbeth. His second direction Ballavpurer Roopkotha was released on 21 October 2022.

<i>Stree</i> (TV series) Indian television series

Stree was a Bengali television soap opera Masala series that premiered on 26 December 2016, and aired on Zee Bangla. It was produced by Snehasish Chakraborty and starred Neha Amandeep and Neel Bhattacharya in lead roles, and Goutam De, Rita Koiral and Dolon Roy in supporting roles. It also starred Moumita Gupta in an antagonistic role. It replaced the popular show Goyenda Ginni. The show telecasted at Monday to Sunday at 7:30 pm. The show went off air on 11 February 2018 and was replaced by Amloki.

Ushasi Ray is an Indian TV actress and model. She is well known for her lead role as 'Ahona' in Star Jalsha's Milon Tithi as well as for playing the titular lead as 'Bokul' in Bokul Kotha. She has played the role 'Kadambini' in Zee Bangla's Kadambini. She recently made her debut in web series as 'Brinda' in Turu Love at Hoichoi. She also made her debut in cinema as Lakshmi in Iskaboner Rani which was aired on Zee Bangla Cinema. Sundarban er vidyasagar,Gobhir jwoler maach is her recent web series.Her upcoming movie name is "Ayurekha" & "Prantik".She studied in Kamala Girls' High School and graduated in from Asutosh College in Kolkata. Payel De, also known as Payel Dey, is a Bengali actress. She began her career in 2006 with Zee Bangla's Ekdin Pratidin daily soap and portrayed the character Chandrayee as a supporting role. She is known for her work in television soap opera serials Durga and Behula where she played the title character, both of these aired on Star Jalsha. She started her career while she was studying in college. Afterwards, she starred as Aalo Moitra in the TV serial Bodhu Kon Alo Laaglo Chokhe which aired on Star Jaisha. She has also played lead characters in Maa Durga, Tobu Mone Rekho, Ardhangini, Jaahanara, Durga Durgeshwari, Chuni Panna and currently Desher Maati.

Neil Chatterjee is an Indian Bengali actor. who works in Bengali television serials and films. He is known for his role in several television shows Kori Khela, Kanyadaan, Karunamoyee Rani Rashmoni, Khelna Bari and many others.

Ghore Ghore Zee Bangla is a Bengali television family game show launched in 2023. The show airs on Zee Bangla six days in a week and also available on ZEE5 digitally.

Amloki is a 2018 Indian Bengali Drama television series released on 12 February 2018 on Zee Bangla. The series is produced under the banner of Shree Venkatesh Films. It stars Aishwarya Roy and Antara Nandi in lead roles.
