The Indian locomotive class WAP-7 is a class of 25 kV AC electric locomotives that was developed in 1999 by Chittaranjan Locomotive Works (CLW) for Indian Railways. The model name stands for broad gauge (W), AC Current (A), Passenger traffic (P) locomotive, 7th generation (7). They entered service in 2000. A total of 1676 WAP-7 have been built, with more units being built at CLW, Banaras Locomotive Works (BLW) and Patiala Locomotive Works (PLW).

A total of 500 WAM-4 were built at CLW between 1970 and 1983, which made them the most numerous class of mainline electric locomotive till its successor the WAG-5.

Vijayawada Junction Railway Station is an Indian Railways station in Vijayawada of Andhra Pradesh, categorized as a Non-Suburban Grade-2 (NSG-2) station in Vijayawada railway division. Situated at the junction of Howrah–Chennai and New Delhi–Chennai main lines, it is the fourth busiest railway station in the country after Howrah Junction, Kanpur Central and New Delhi. It is an express service that travels in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. The train travels at an average speed of 55 km/h and uses a WDP4D of Gooty from Lingampalli to Tenali Jn then switches to a WAP4 of Erode from Tenali Jn to Vishakapatnam Jn. It is classified as an Express in the Indian Railways classification list.
The 22501/02 New Tinsukia–SMVT Bengaluru Express is a weekly Superfast train which connects Tinsukia, the easternmost town of Assam with the South Indian Metropolis of Bengaluru. The train consists of AC 1st class, 2-tier, 3-tier and sleeper-class coaches. It is 6th longest train service of Indian Railways, as of 2023, which travels a total distance of 3542 kilometres.

Diesel Loco Shed, Ernakulam (Code:ERSX) is a motive power depot performing locomotive maintenance and repair facility for diesel locomotives of the Indian Railways, located at Ernakulam Junction (ERS) of the Southern Railway zone in the city of Kochi, Kerala. It is one of the four diesel loco sheds of the Southern Railway, the others being at Tondiarpet (TNP) at Chennai, Erode (ED) and Golden Rock (GOC) at Trichy and the only locomotive shed in Kerala and the southernmost loco shed in India. Although it is in Kerala, its locomotives were mainly used mostly in Goa and Maharashtra, and very rarely near the shed for passenger trains.

It holds the record of 8th longest running train of Indian Railways that covers 3492 km. .
