Hotel Indigo is an American chain of small, individually owned boutique hotels, which is part of IHG Hotels & Resorts (InterContinental Hotels Group). As of September 2023 it had 149 hotels with 19,529 rooms worldwide, and stated that it planned to open 129 more. [1]
The first Hotel Indigo opened in Atlanta, Georgia, US in October 2004 [2] and a second location opened in the historic Gold Coast neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois in May 2005 (later being foreclosed and re-branding as the Claridge House). [3] The chain's first non-US property, which in 2017 became the independent Metcalfe Hotel, [4] was opened in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.
In July 2019 at the Traverse City, Michigan Hotel Indigo, a murder-suicide took place in room 318, blocks away from the National Cherry Festival. [5]

The chain was founded in 1952 by Kemmons Wilson, who opened the first location in Memphis, Tennessee. The chain was a division of Bass Brewery from 1988-2000, Six Continents from 2000-03, and IHG Hotels & Resorts since 2003. It is the ninth business base of InterContinental Hotel in Taiwan and the third Indigo brand hotel. With a total of 149 rooms, the hotel started trial operations on January 1, 2020, and officially opened on February 12, 2020. The lower floors of the building houses a shopping center Chun Place, which opened in September 2020.
