The contestants arrived in Tokyo, Japan on October 12 and the finals was held on November 11, 2006, at the Beijing Exhibition Center in Beijing, China. 53 contestants competed. Precious Lara Quigaman of the Philippines crowned her successor Daniela Di Giacomo of Venezuela. [1]

Miss World 1999, the 49th edition of the Miss World pageant, was held on 4 December 1999 at the Olympia Hall in London, United Kingdom. The pageant was hosted by Ulrika Jonsson and model Melanie Sykes. The 1999 pageant attracted 94 delegates from all over the world. The 1999 pageant also marked the first time that Scotland and Wales fielded their respective delegates. At the end of the event, 20-year-old Miss India Yukta Mookhey went on to win the Miss World 1999 crown. The preliminary swimsuit competition was held in Malta. She was crowned by her predecessor Linor Abargil of Israel. Protesters gathered outside the event, decrying it as a "sexist cattle market".

Miss Venezuela 2006 was the 53rd Miss Venezuela pageant, was held in Caracas, Venezuela, on September 14, 2006, after weeks of events. The winner of the pageant was Ly Jonaitis, Miss Guárico.

Jeymmy Vargas of Colombia crowned her successor Lara Quigaman of the Philippines as the new Miss International. She became the fourth Filipino to win the pageant.

Daniela Anette di Giacomo di Giovanni is a Venezuelan TV host, journalist, radio host, model and beauty queen. She was crowned Miss Venezuela International 2005 and then Miss International 2006 in China. She worked on Venezuelan channel Televen for a long time and now works for Univision in the United States.

Alejandra Andreu, Miss International 2008, crowned Bea Santiago of the Philippines at the end of the event. This was the second consecutive year Japan hosted the pageant.
