Allison Elizabeth Weston (born February 19, 1974) [1] is a former indoor volleyball player. She won the 1995 national championship while playing for the University of Nebraska and also played for the United States national team at the 2000 Summer Olympics.
Weston attended Papillion-La Vista Senior High School, where she played volleyball, basketball, track and field,(high jump) and soccer. In 1992, she was named the Lincoln Journal Star Nebraska Athlete of the Year and the Gatorade Nebraska Player of the Year in basketball. [2] She was inducted into the Nebraska High School Sports Hall of Fame in 2007. [3]
Weston played for the University of Nebraska volleyball team from 1992 to 1995. In her freshman season, she was named the Big 8 Conference Newcomer of the Year. The following year, she was an AVCA All-American and an All-Big 8 Conference selection. [2]
In both 1994 and 1995, Weston was named the Big 8 Conference Player of the Year, while also making the AVCA All-American and All-Big 8 Conference teams. She led Nebraska to the national championship in 1995 and was an AVCA co-National Player of the Year. She finished her college career with 1,778 kills, which set a Nebraska school record. Weston played for the United States national team from 1997 to 2000. She was named the team captain in 1999 and played in the 2000 Summer Olympics. [2]
Weston played professionally in Italy in 2001. She later became an assistant coach for the University of Montana. [2]
Sports Illustrated named her as the best ever female athlete born in Nebraska. [6]

The Nebraska Cornhuskers are the intercollegiate athletic teams that represent the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. The university is a member of the Big Ten Conference, and the Cornhuskers compete in NCAA Division I, fielding twenty-two varsity teams in fifteen sports. Nineteen of these teams participate in the Big Ten, while rifle is a member of the single-sport Patriot Rifle Conference and beach volleyball and bowling compete as independents. The Cornhuskers have two official mascots, Herbie Husker and Lil' Red.
Logan Maile Lei Tom is a former American indoor volleyball, beach volleyball player, and is current head coach of the Israel women's national volleyball team. She is a four-time Olympian at the outside hitter position. At age 19, Logan became the youngest woman ever to be selected for an American Olympic volleyball team when she competed at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney. She is a skilled all-around player who brings stability to the American serve receive and defense, while also providing the team with a solid attack and block at the net. She had been a huge part of the national team from 2000 to 2012. At the 2008 Olympics, Tom helped Team USA win a silver medal and was named Best Scorer, she won another silver medal at the 2012 Olympics with the national team. She was also awarded the Most Valuable Player of the 2004 FIVB World Grand Prix.
Ogonna Nneka Nnamani is a physician, retired American indoor volleyball player and former member of the United States National and Olympic team. She was awarded the Honda-Broderick Cup in 2004 as the nation's top female athlete across all NCAA sports and is regarded as one of the best players in Stanford University's history with a career record of 2,450 kills, for which she entered the Stanford Hall of Fame in 2015.

Foluke Atinuke Gunderson is an indoor volleyball player who plays as a middle blocker for Japanese club Hisamitsu Springs. Born in Canada, she represents the United States internationally. Gunderson won gold with the national team at the 2010 FIVB World Grand Prix, 2014 World Championship, the Rimini Volleyball Nations League, and the 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics, silver at the 2012 London Summer Olympics, and bronze at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games. Her 2020 Olympics win allowed her to complete the trifecta of winning an Olympic bronze, silver, and gold medal.
The Nebraska Cornhuskers women's volleyball team competes as part of NCAA Division I, representing the University of Nebraska–Lincoln in the Big Ten. Nebraska plays its home games at the Bob Devaney Sports Center, and has sold out every home match since 2001. The team has been coached by John Cook since 2000.
Danielle Racquel Scott-Arruda is an American-Brazilian indoor volleyball player. She has played at the 1996, 2000, 2004, 2008 and the 2012 Summer Olympics, breaking a U.S. female volleyball athlete record for Olympic appearances. She's currently playing professionally for Brazilian league Banana Boat/Praia Clube. Scott-Arruda carried the flag for her native country at the opening ceremony of the 2007 Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Nancy Jean Metcalf is an American indoor volleyball player. She represented her native country at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece, where she finished in fifth place with the USA National Team. She missed the 2008 Olympics with a torn labrum, and was not named to the national team in 2012.
Terry Pettit is a retired American volleyball coach. His only major coaching position was at Nebraska from 1977 to 1999, where he led the Cornhuskers to the school's first NCAA national championship in 1995 by defeating Texas in the final. He led the team to 21 Big Eight and Big 12 conference championships in his 23 seasons as head coach and established Nebraska as one of the most decorated programs in the sport of volleyball.
The Penn State Nittany Lions women's volleyball program has had a long tradition, founded in 1976 by Tom Tait, long-time coach of the Penn State men's team, who coached the women's team from 1976 to 1979 and was named a USA Volleyball All-Time great coach in 2007.
Megan Hodge Easy is an American indoor volleyball player who won a silver medal at the 2012 Summer Olympics with the US team and played for Pennsylvania State University's volleyball team. Currently, she plays in Brazilian team Itambé-Minas.
Christa Deanne Harmotto Dietzen is an American former professional volleyball player who played as a middle blocker for the United States women's national volleyball team. Glass played collegiate volleyball for Penn State, where she led Penn State to three NCAA consecutive championships. Jordan Quinn Larson is an American volleyball player and a three-time Olympic medalist. Larson won gold with the national team at the 2014 World Championship, the Rimini Volleyball Nations League, and the 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics, silver at the 2012 London Summer Olympics, and bronze at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games. Dana Lynn Rettke is an American professional volleyball player who currently plays for Vero Volley Monza in the Italian Serie A1 League. She played collegiate volleyball at the University of Wisconsin–Madison and is the first five-time AVCA First Team All American in collegiate history. Rettke was also a member of the U.S. national team and has won All-Big Ten honors in each of her five college seasons, was the 2019–20 Big Ten Female Athlete of the Year and the 2021-2022 winner of the Honda Sports Award for women's volleyball.
