Xylosma is a genus of flowering plants in the family Salicaceae. It contains around 100 species of evergreen shrubs and trees commonly known as brushhollies, xylosmas, or, more ambiguously, "logwoods". The generic name is derived from the Greek words ξύλον (xylon), meaning "wood, tree", and ὀσμή (osmé), meaning "smell", referring to the fragrant wood of some of the species. The Takhtajan system places it in the family Flacourtiaceae, which is considered defunct by the Angiosperm Phylogeny Group.
Pectis is a genus of flowering plants in the family Asteraceae described as a genus by Linnaeus in 1759.
Amyris is a genus of flowering plants in the citrus family, Rutaceae. The generic name is derived from the Greek word αμυρων, which means "intensely scented" and refers to the strong odor of the resin. Members of the genus are commonly known as torchwoods because of their highly flammable wood.
Casasia is a genus of flowering plants in the family Rubiaceae. These shrubs or small trees occur on the Caribbean islands and in one case in Florida. Some of the ten accepted species were formerly placed elsewhere, e.g. in the related genip-tree genus (Genipa), in Gardenia or in Randia.
Picramnia, the bitterbushes, is a genus of plant considered to be in the family Picramniaceae, but sometimes placed in Simaroubaceae. The name is conserved against the genera Pseudo-brasiliumAdans., and TaririAubl., both which have been rejected.
Sarcomphalus is a genus of plants in the family Rhamnaceae.
Turnera is a genus of flowering plants in the passionflower family, Passifloraceae. It contains more than 100 species native to tropical and subtropical America. The name honours English naturalist William Turner (1508–1568). It was previously placed in the family Turneraceae.
Harpalyce is a genus of flowering plants in the family Fabaceae. It belongs to the subfamily Faboideae.
Chaptalia is a genus of flowering plants in the family Asteraceae.
Jacquemontia is a genus of plants in the morning glory family Convolvulaceae. Species in this genus are commonly known as clustervine.
Schwenckia is a genus of flowering plants in the family Solanaceae, native to Central America and South America, and with one species, S. americana, a widespread weed in Africa. In the title of the generic description Linnaeus wrote "Schwenkia" but gave the binomial of the type species as Schwenckia americana, while quoting Dav. van Royen as the author.
Varronia is a genus of flowering plants in the family Boraginaceae, found throughout Latin America, the Caribbean, and in the US states of Texas and Florida. They were resurrected from Cordia in 2007.
Stenostomum is a genus of flowering plant in the family Rubiaceae, native from southern Mexico to tropical South America. The genus was established by Karl Friedrich von Gaertner in 1806.
