Coterie is a four-member Australian-New Zealand band. Formed from four brothers who were born in New Zealand and grew up in Perth, Western Australia, the band received recognition for the 2021 single "Cool It Down", which was a hit in New Zealand.

Biography

The Fisher brothers' parents are musicians from New Zealand. While on tour, they decided to relocate the family from Papakura in Auckland to Perth, Western Australia. [1] [2] The family's roots are in Tauranga and Northland, and are of Te Aupōuri, Ngāpuhi and Ngāi Te Rangi descent. [3] [4]

The brothers formed as a musical act in 2016, [2] and prior to this had worked on a number of different music projects, including Tastemakers, an online series where the brothers collaborated with Western Australian artists. [5] The band released their first single "Where We Began" in 2019, [6] and focused their early career on the local Perth music scene. [2] The group released their first single under major label Island Records Australia in 2020, [2] parting with the label in 2021 and releasing the single "Good Morning" independently. [7] In late 2021 and 2022, Coterie toured Australia with New Zealand band Six60. [8]

In 2022 the band had their first hit single in New Zealand with the song "Cool It Down", [9] which was certified double platinum in New Zealand. [10] The band released a Māori language version of the song, [11] a week prior to Te Wiki o te Reo Māori.

On the 9th of December, 2022, the band released their first studio album, a self-titled 13-track release. The CD release features a bonus 14th track, the previously released Māori language version of "Cool It Down", titled "Purea".

Rob Ruha, is a New Zealand musician from Wharekahika, Gisborne District. He debuted as a solo musician in 2013, and is known for his singles sung in te Reo Māori, including "Kalega" (2017), "Ka Mānu" (2019), "35" with Ka Hao (2021), and "Taera" (2021). Ruha worked as the music director for the Māori language version of the Walt Disney Pictures films Moana and The Lion King.

Nikora "Niko" Walters is a New Zealand contemporary soul and R&B musician. Debuting in 2019, Walters is best known for the "Not My Neighbour" (2020), which was certified double platinum and was one of the top singles of 2021 in New Zealand. Walters released his debut album Escape in 2020, followed by White Flag Waves in 2022.

Corrella is an eight-member New Zealand roots reggae band. Formed in 2017 by members of the Royal New Zealand Navy in the North Shore, Auckland, suburb of Belmont, the group came to prominence in New Zealand in 2023 with the single "Blue Eyed Māori". Lead singer Pipiwharauroa Campbell grew up speaking Māori as his first language, and the band has released two songs in te reo Māori, "Raumati" (2022) and "Ko Au " (2023).
