Season chronology

The thirteenth series of Dancing on Ice debuted on ITV on 17 January 2021. During the finale of the twelfth series, it was announced that Dancing on Ice had been renewed for another series. [1] The series was once again filmed in the purpose-built studio at Bovingdon Airfield, which had been set up for the tenth series. [2] Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby returned as hosts, while Ashley Banjo, John Barrowman, Christopher Dean, and Jayne Torvill returned as judges.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the series was filmed without a live audience for the first time in the show's history, while the judges were separated by perspex screens. The celebrities and their professional partners formed bubbles in order to work together safely. [3]

This series experienced numerous withdrawals. Denise van Outen, Billie Shepherd, and Jason Donovan were forced to withdraw from the series after suffering injuries, while Rufus Hound and Joe-Warren Plant both withdrew after testing positive for COVID-19. Amy Tinkler and Matt Richardson joined the competition as replacement contestants in weeks 3 and 4, respectively. [4]

On 15 February 2021, ITV announced that they would postpone the sixth live show scheduled for 21 February in order to give the remaining contestants sufficient time to recover from any injuries, stating that "The welfare of all of those involved is important to us and we felt it prudent to take a week's break at this juncture". The episode was instead replaced with a pre-recorded special celebrating the most memorable moments in the show's history entitled Dancing on Ice: The Greatest Show on Ice. The live shows resumed on 28 February. [5]

On 26 February 2021, ITV announced that the current series would end a week earlier than originally planned, taking the number of live shows to eight instead of the usual ten. [6]

Sonny Jay and Angela Egan were announced as the winners on 14 March 2021.

Professional skaters

On 24 June 2020, it was announced that Alex Murphy had not been re-contracted for the upcoming series, and on 19 July 2020, that Brianne Delcourt would be leaving the show to spend more time with her husband, Kevin Kilbane, with whom she partnered last series. [7] [8] On 30 August 2020, it was announced that Alexander Demetriou and Carlotta Edwards would also not be returning, although Demetriou did still appear in some of the group numbers. [9] On 7 October 2020, it was announced that Jess Hatfield, Oscar Peter, and Tom Naylor would not be returning either. They were replaced by returning professionals Andy Buchanan and Robin Johnstone, and new professionals Angela Egan, Klabera Komini, and Yebin Mok, along with Joe Johnson and Karina Manta who led the professional group routines. [10] Vicky Ogden, also a returning professional, joined the cast in week 4 when Matt Richardson entered the competition, but did not take part in the pre-recorded group routines. On 16 February 2021, it was announced that Hamish Gaman had been forced to withdraw from the competition after snapping a tendon in his hand. Therefore, Faye Brookes was re-partnered with Matt Evers. Couples

On 20 September 2020, Myleene Klass was announced as the first celebrity to be participating in the series. [12] More celebrities were revealed in the following days before the line-up was concluded on 4 October. [13] On 26 January 2021, Denise van Outen was forced to withdraw from the competition after suffering three bone fractures and partially dislocating her shoulder. Van Outen was replaced by former Olympic artistic gymnast Amy Tinkler, who made her debut in the competition in week 3. [14] Former Olympic skier and broadcaster Graham Bell was originally partnered with Yebin Mok; however, after Mok sustained an injury before their first performance, Bell was re-partnered with Karina Manta. [15] On 3 February 2021, it was announced that Rufus Hound had tested positive for COVID-19 and was forced to withdraw from the competition. He was replaced by comedian and television presenter Matt Richardson, who made his debut in the competition in week 4. [16] On 6 February 2021, Billie Shepherd was forced to withdraw from the competition after suffering a head injury in training. [17] On 12 February 2021, it was announced that Joe-Warren Plant had to withdraw from the competition after both he and partner Vanessa Bauer tested positive for COVID-19. [18] On 22 February 2021, it was announced that Jason Donovan had been forced to withdraw from the competition after suffering a back injury. [19]

Group performances:

Graham Bell and Yebin Mok were meant to perform this week. However, after Mok sustaining an injury in training, Rufus Hound and Robin Johnstone performed instead. [20]

In a new twist for this series, during the first two weeks, the judges awarded a Golden Ticket to one couple, which granted them immunity from the public vote. Only half of the celebrities performed this week. The couple with the lowest votes from the first week competed against the couple with the lowest votes from second week in the skate-off. The first series of Dancing on Ice aired from 14 January to 4 March 2006 on ITV. It was presented by Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby, and judged by the "Ice Panel", consisting of Nicky Slater, Karen Kresge, Jason Gardiner, Karen Barber and Robin Cousins. Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean coached and trained the contestants.

The fourth series of Dancing on Ice aired from 11 January to 22 March 2009 on ITV. Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby returned as main presenters, while Karen Barber, Nicky Slater, Jason Gardiner, Ruthie Henshall and Robin Cousins returned to the "Ice Panel".

The third series of Dancing on Ice aired from 13 January to 16 March 2008 on ITV. The show moved from Saturday nights to Sunday nights, with Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby returning as hosts. Karen Barber, Nicky Slater, Jason Gardiner, and Robin Cousins returned to the "Ice Panel", with Ruthie Henshall joining as a replacement for Natalia Bestemianova. The commissioning of the series was first confirmed by Schofield at the 2007 BAFTA Awards.

The sixth series of Dancing on Ice aired from 9 January to 27 March 2011, on ITV. Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby returned as hosts, while Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean returned as mentors. As part of a major revamp, the show moved from Elstree Studios to Shepperton Studios, where they unveiled a new set. It was the also the first series to be broadcast in HD.

The eighth series of Dancing on Ice aired from on 6 January to 10 March 2013, on ITV. Phillip Schofield and Christine Bleakley returned as hosts, with Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean serving as mentors. The series was judged by Robin Cousins, Karen Barber, Ashley Roberts, and Jason Gardiner. Gardiner had departed after series 6 in 2011, but returned to replace Louie Spence, while Ashley Roberts joined the Ice Panel as Katarina Witt's replacement. Barber rejoined the Ice Panel after serving as head coach in series 6 and series 7.

Melesha Katrina O'Garro, known professionally as Lady Leshurr, is a British rapper, singer, songwriter and producer. She is known for her Queen's Speech series of freestyles, the fourth of which became popular in 2016. Her subsequent freestyle, Queen's Speech 5, was called "brilliant" and "2015's crowning freestyle" by Spin. In 2021, she entered the Channel 4 series The Celebrity Circle for Stand Up to Cancer, catfishing as Big Narstie, and won. She also competed in the thirteenth series of Dancing on Ice, where she reached the semi-final.

The ninth series of Dancing on Ice aired from 5 January to 9 March 2014 on ITV. It was announced on 22 October 2013 that this series would be the show's last, and would be an 'All-Star' series featuring former winners and previous contestants. Phillip Schofield and Christine Bleakley returned to present, with Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean returning as mentors. Robin Cousins, Jason Gardiner, Karen Barber, and Ashley Roberts returned to The Ice Panel. Cousins was unable to appear on the ice panel during weeks 6 and 7 due to him commentating the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia, and was replaced by original judge Nicky Slater, while Barber acted as head judge.

The tenth series of Dancing on Ice debuted on ITV on 7 January 2018. It was the first series since the show had ended in 2014 and featured a new set and ice rink, a new panel of judges, and a new logo. After the tenth series, the live tour of Dancing on Ice returned from March to April 2018, featuring celebrities from the series.

The eleventh series of Dancing on Ice debuted on 6 January 2019 on ITV. Filming took place in the purpose-built studio at Bovingdon Airfield. An announcement was made on 11 March 2018, during the series ten finale, that the show had been recommissioned for another series.

The fourteenth series of Dancing on Ice debuted on ITV on 16 January 2022. During the finale of the thirteenth series, it was announced that Dancing on Ice had been renewed for another series. The series was once again filmed in the purpose-built studio at Bovingdon Airfield. Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby returned as hosts. Ashley Banjo, Christopher Dean, and Jayne Torvill returned as judges for their fifth series, while it was announced on 3 October 2021, that John Barrowman would not be returning to the judging panel. In December, Strictly Come Dancing professional Oti Mabuse was confirmed as Barrowman's replacement. Arlene Phillips also joined the panel on 20 February as a guest judge.

The fifteenth series of Dancing on Ice debuted on ITV on 15 January 2023. During the finale of the fourteenth series, it was announced that Dancing on Ice had been renewed for another series. The series was once again filmed in the purpose-built studio at Bovingdon Airfield. Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby returned as hosts. Ashley Banjo, Christopher Dean, Oti Mabuse, and Jayne Torvill also returned as judges. This series decreased the number of live shows to nine weeks instead of ten, and featured one fewer celebrity contestant than usual.

The sixteenth series of Dancing on Ice is set to begin airing on ITV on 14 January 2024. During the finale of the fifteenth series, it was announced that Dancing on Ice had been renewed for another series. The series was once again filmed in the purpose-built studio at Bovingdon Airfield, which was set up for the tenth series.
