The Eastern Michigan Eagles baseball team (formerly the Eastern Michigan Hurons) is a varsity intercollegiate athletic team of Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, Michigan, United States. [2] The team is a member of the Mid-American Conference West division, which is part of the National Collegiate Athletic Association's Division I. Eastern Michigan's first baseball team was fielded in 1901. The team plays its home games at Oestrike Stadium in Ypsilanti, Michigan. The 1976 team finished as runner-up at the 1976 College World Series, making the then-Hurons the last northern school to play for a CWS title until Michigan in 2019.

The only exception is the women's rowing program, which is a member of the Colonial Athletic Association. Charles Edward Ramsey is an American athlete and college basketball coach. He is the former head men's basketball coach at Eastern Michigan University.

The 1976 NCAA Division I baseball tournament was played at the end of the 1976 NCAA Division I baseball season to determine the national champion of college baseball. The tournament concluded with eight teams competing in the College World Series, a double-elimination tournament in its thirtieth year. Eight regional competitions were held to determine the participants in the final event. Seven regions held a four team, double-elimination tournament while one region included six teams, resulting in 34 teams participating in the tournament at the conclusion of their regular season, and in some cases, after a conference tournament. The thirtieth tournament's champion was Arizona, coached by Jerry Kindall. The Most Outstanding Player was Steve Powers of Arizona.

Oestrike Stadium is a stadium in Ypsilanti, Michigan at Eastern Michigan University. It is named after Ron Oestrike, a former baseball coach at EMU. It is primarily used for baseball, and serves as the Eastern Michigan University Eagles baseball team home field. In addition, it served as the home field of the Midwest Sliders of Ypsilanti Frontier League baseball team in 2009 and 2010. Several present and former major leaguers, including Bob Welch, Bob Owchinko, Bryan Clutterbuck, Pat Sheridan, and Brian Bixler, played at Oestrike Stadium as members of the EMU baseball team.

Elton James Rynearson Sr. was an American athlete, coach, and college athletics administrator. He was affiliated with Eastern Michigan University for most of his life, beginning his association with the school as a student in 1910 and retiring as the school's athletic director in 1963.

Joseph Howard McCulloch was an American football, baseball, and basketball coach, teacher and athletic director. He played college football and baseball at Springfield College from 1908 to 1910. He was the athletic director and coach of the baseball and basketball teams at Carnegie Institute of Technology—now known as Carnegie Mellon University—from 1911 to 1918. After service in the military during World War I, he spent more than 30 years from 1919 through the mid-1950s as the athletic director at Michigan State Normal College—now known as Eastern Michigan University—and served stints as the head coach of the football, basketball and tennis teams.

The 2005–06 Eastern Michigan Eagles men's basketball team represented Eastern Michigan University during the 2005–06 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Eagles, led by 1st year head coach Charles E. Ramsey, played their home games at the Eastern Michigan University Convocation Center and were members of the West Division of the Mid-American Conference. They finished the season 7–21, 3–15 in MAC play. They were knocked out in the 1st round of the MAC Tournament by Western Michigan.

The 1976 Eastern Michigan Hurons football team represented Eastern Michigan University in the 1976 NCAA Division I football season. In their first season under head coach Ed Chlebek, the Hurons compiled a 2–9 record, finished in ninth place in the Mid-American Conference, and were outscored by their opponents, 355 to 132. The team's statistical leaders included Steve Raklovits with 954 passing yards, Bobby Windom with 824 rushing yards, and Carlos Henderson with 328 receiving yards.

The 1975 Eastern Michigan Hurons football team represented Eastern Michigan University as an independent during the 1975 NCAA Division II football season. In their second and final season under head coach George Mans, the Hurons compiled a 4–6 record and outscored their opponents, 198 to 171. The team's statistical leaders included Jerry Mucha with 526 passing yards and Clarence Chapman with 634 rushing yards and 194 receiving yards.

The 1958 Eastern Michigan Hurons football team represented Eastern Michigan College in the Interstate Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) during the 1958 NCAA College Division football season. In their seventh season under head coach Fred Trosko, the Hurons compiled a 4–5 record and outscored their opponents, 108 to 88. Charles J. Shonta was the team captain The team's statistical leaders included John Kubiak with 452 passing yards and 410 yards of total offense, Albert Day with 296 rushing yards, and Jerry Wedge with 183 receiving yards. On October 18, 1958, the Hurons defeated Eastern Illinois, 31–0, in front for a homecoming crowd of 7,200 at Briggs Field in Ypsilanti. Alex Klukach received the team's most valuable player award.

The 1940 Michigan State Normal Hurons football team represented Michigan State Normal College during the 1940 college football season. In their 19th season under head coach Elton Rynearson, the Hurons compiled a record of 1–5–1, failed to score in four of seven games, and were outscored by all opponents by a combined total of 125 to 34. Walter Siera was the team captain. The team played its home games at Briggs Field on the school's campus in Ypsilanti, Michigan.

The 1937 Michigan State Normal Hurons football team represented Michigan State Normal College during the 1937 college football season. In their 16th season under head coach Elton Rynearson, the Hurons compiled a record of 5–2–1 and outscored their opponents by a combined total of 156 to 69. August R. DeFroscia was the team captain. The team played its home games at Normal Field on the school's campus in Ypsilanti, Michigan.

The Central Michigan–Eastern Michigan football rivalry is an annual college football game between Central Michigan University (CMU) and Eastern Michigan University (EMU). The football series between the two universities dates back to 1902 and is the oldest rivalry in the Mid-American Conference (MAC), having begun five years before the Central Michigan–Western Michigan rivalry and six years before the Miami–Ohio rivalry. With 100 games having been played, it is also the most frequently-played series between MAC schools.

The 1976 Eastern Michigan Hurons baseball team represented Eastern Michigan University in the 1976 NCAA Division I baseball season. The Hurons played their home games at Oestrike Stadium. The team was coached by Ron Oestrike in his 13th season at Eastern Michigan.
