The GCC U-17 Championship is an annual international football competition organised by the Gulf Cooperation Council. 2001 was the first edition of the tournament and was played in a round-robin group of five nations.

The 2014 edition had been moved from Qatar to Bahrain, but was later cancelled in whole.

The 2011 GCC U-17 Championship took place in Qatar from 5 to 15 August 2011. It was the 8th edition of the tournament.

The GCC U-19 Championship is an annual international football competition organised by the Gulf Cooperation Council. 2012 was expected to be the first edition of the tournament, set to be played in Qatar, however, the first edition was played in 2015 with the 2nd edition once again hosted by Qatar in 2016.

The 2016–17 Bahraini First Division League was the 60th top-level football season in Bahrain. Ten teams participated with Al-Hidd as the defending champions after securing the championship last season for the first time.
